Infiniti J30 w/ VG30DE motor

hearing a slight noise coming from engine bay, sounds similar to a knock but not quite... happens occasionally, sometimes louder than other times - any ideas to what this could be? when possible I will check fluids, as per i am at work at the moment... also, anyone have any parts for this? ie: sunroof motor, passenger window motor parts, stock radio, headlight-relay, front struts, etc..? P.S.. Anyone know any good shops for Nissan/Infiniti? I don;t want to pay a lot but would rather pay for service than anything..

 

Check the local yards for J30 parts. The interiors/electronics are always the last to go on them.

 

Ok.. and I live in Spring Hill but work in St. Pete. Are there any yards that you would recommend for nissan/infiniti? or does it not really matter?

Few questions :

When does the knock happen?

How loud is the knock, tap, tick, etc.?

I hear it most when idling, i dont seem to hear it when driving but doesnt mean its not doing it - im not sure, someone told me it might be a loose heat shield or something to do with motor/exhaust area... but not sure how credible that is. and it is decently loud, i mean i pulled up to a taco bell and i mean it wasnt so loud that i couldnt hear what they were saying but i could definately hear the noise... but i mean that was with the wall there, when sitting at a light i can hear it from inside the car even with windows closed..

Ok, another set of questions :

How many miles on the motor?

Does it sound like its coming from the MOTOR or from the exhaust?

Can you get me a sound clip?

All this parts always goes bad in this car. you better buy new parts and the radio is liked 1,500 from nissan,infiniti i will get this aftermarket .

 

Exhaust studs are prone to break on your motor i have a VG in my Maxima
