What's there to do up there? Work, fun, trouble?

Amanda & I are heavily considering a move up there :mullet: Nice 1400 s/f home, with a fire place, completely rennovated, 2/2/2 + jacuzzi, bar, and storage shed out back... $115k asking price :nerd:

I think the days of cheap gas are gone. You'll basically be financing a cheaper house every time you stop at the gas station. I'd pay extra to be closer to everything and use less gas.

as far as partying? not a damn thing unless your idea is to goto a hole in the wall bar and get drunk with bikers or goto applebees and get drunk there. Theres Capones which is a big pool hall, but its boring. Also saints and sinners, havemnt been there though. After that if you are really bored just do what everyone else does and goto 1 of the 3 super walmarts that are within 10 miles of each other late at night. Though you are near some nice lakes at times and croom area.

^There's really no way to polish the turd, no need to try.

Spring Hill fucking blows. I lived there for almost 9 years, I know about nothing to do... ever.

All that there is to do in SH is fapping....by yourself unless you're married...and even then it's sketchy. Capone's is SUPER boring, and saint and sinners is just a drug haven IMO. Better to stay in Tampa. It isn't worth the drive. Figure about a $20 bill a day per car.

Yea, I've not really been impressed with Springhill the few times I've been there.....and unless you can work there or somewhere close by, I can't really see it being worth it....it's at least an hour to get to Tampa from there....

Don't be foolish Josh. The smart way of thinking is to buy the same house in the getto of tampa for 300k. just think of all the gas you'll save.

MiDiablo

For those that don't understand:

My fiance works 8 miles NE of the location we're considering buying. Currently her drive is 49.5 miles each way.

I work directly in S. Tampa (currently; considering a possible change if the house is worth the buy), and even with commuting there from my current location it's 31.5 miles and takes anywhere between 45 minutes to 70 minutes (traffic?!).

Driving from the new location (Spring Hill) would only add 15.2 miles to the commute (each way) for me: 46.7. AND THE ESTIMATED TRAVEL TIME IS THE SAME!! Because all the driving will be interstate (Veteran's Xwy), versus trying to get into Tampa from US19...

So I would add 32 miles to my commute per day, however Amanda would save 82 miles on her's daily. So we'd be SAVING 50 miles commuting PER DAY!

You do the math... At the cost of gas... :dunno: :crack:

Furthermore, for us to buy the same house, with the same condition (jacuzzi, wet bar, already rennovated, new everything), and same situations (ie: large lot, no deed restrictions, etc) in or near Tampa - we'd easily be in the $140-$150k range.

And let's be honest, Tampa sucks. I hate it there.

Sounds like you've already got your mind made up. It's an alright place to live there's just not shit to do. Being married I guess that doesn't matter as much though. If you really gotta get outta Tampa, then go for it.

MiDiablo
06-08-2008, 03:10 PM
I don't have to get outta Tampa, per se. Nor do I have my mind necessarily made up. I'm just pointing out the facts that we're currently faced with.

I don't live in Tampa, I live in Holiday. I'm used to driving all over hell and half acre just about anytime we want to do something anyways :crack: Holiday's not exactly jam-packed full of stuff to do.

Well don't forget the cost of the tolls if you plan on commuting on the Vet, plus the traffic; depending on where your office is, the Vet comes to a standstill at the Anderson Road toll plaza all the way on into town and on 275.

It does sound like you've convinced yourself to live there.....I would say, spend a day up there and check out the area for yourself...

I live in LOL and commute 22 miles one way to work in Downtown Tampa every day; at first, I thought it was nice to live out here in a suburban area, but now I HATE the commute.....for the gas, for the traffic, for the morons.....

So what are you going to do if your girl ever gets another job? Not too many decent jobs in Hernando county, so she'll probably get one in Hillsborough or Pinellas. Then you're back to taking it in the ass for mileage, tolls, and gas.

sh is a nice place to ride a atv though!!!!:D  my boy big e just move there 4 mths ago and his wife lost her job he thinks he in hell

MiDiablo

Dave, my girl has very good job security, thank God. She's been with the company for 4+ years and is very close to the upper echelon there.

Shakin It, I already use the Vet almost every day - I get on at Van Dyke and depending on traffic take it to Kennedy or Waters or wherever. So I am already used to SunPass refills and uber gay Xwy travelers.

I've not made an offer on the house yet, if I had convinced myself of the move - I would have already placed our offer ;)

If it has a two car garage i'd consider it seriously. With a bar and a cuzzi who needs clubing for entertainment?

I never found anything wrong with Spring Hill. There are lots of small places to go thats true but there are also tons of places to eat , lots of nice people , great fishing , low housing cost and its quirt for the most part. There are 2 mopvie theaters in town. One is over on 50 and is the new and current theater. The other is on 19 over by chilis and shows older movies for I think one dollar! Ones that left the current theaters recently. There is also a pretty decent pool leauge between the bars , the water park for kids also.

Thanks for the scoop nicra! ;) I'm considering my options, weighing the pros and cons today. The fiance is pretty stoked about the house, and I really think it's a great buy (esp. for the money). We may make an offer today; we'll see what happens...

oh yea i forgot... PEOPLE CANT DRIVE WORTH A FUCK UP HERE, i've never been cut off soo many times in my life, i've recently had fireworks thrown at my car and i was chasing the person in a neon into a walgreens parking lot where there was a cop and when we were yelling at him to do something he just kept eating in his car and nodding his head... you definatly have to watch out for other drivers up here!!

worthless post.....you should have just made a thread about how do you like your chicken cooked! Everybody and there mom is going to have a diffrent opinion,it all depends on you and what you want to do.Lets be honest here.....if everyone that posted here said its the greatest place to live, are you going to move your family here and vise versa.....Springhill just like any other town is going to be as good/bad as you make it to be,i'm perfectly happy here and I personaly think its the best place right now for my daughter to be going to school.

I can go on and talk shit to a few people who made just dumb ass posts but not worth it.:D

godfrey is pretty long road man ;) At least thats a decent area, there isnt really any ghetto parts until you get into brooksville or hill n dale area.

^ I disagree. There are pleanty of ghetto parts. You just have to live near them long enough to know where the crack houses are.

Although I do agree that opinions are like assholes - everyone's got them, and some smell like shit - I don't think it was a worthless post :bigthumb:

I've still not made an offer on the house, sitting tight at the moment. I'm praying that we've got a few days. Still weighing the pros and cons. Plus dealing with some familial issues at the hospital the past few days has really set me back with work and personal progress.

My fiance has spent quite a bit of time up in "The Hill" of late, and has nothing but positive feelings about the area. We're hoping to go up there this weekend and just do some time in the area to check out the locals ;)

I moved to Spring Hill 4 years ago and I still like it. Pretty quiet and boring at times but thats fine by me, and badlatitude is right about the pool league at the bars if your into that, I have been shooting for the past 3 years and it's a good time and a cheap night out. Godfrey is a good place to be, have a buddy over that way and have been to Pace cars place, nice nieghborhood.
