I'm now in debt to my parents for a while, for about half the cost of my new upgrade.

D300
MB-D10 grip, up to 8fps continuous shooting
SB-600 flash
Sigma 24-70 f2.8

Pricey, yes. But I do see myself benefiting from this and to continue shooting for the rest of my life. I will not ever get bored of it!!! It is truly one of my loves in life (as I'm sure some of you can relate to).

Should be here 3-5 days and you better believe I'll blow up a thread with some shots from it!

Edit: SHIT! Forgot I need to go buy some CF cards now haha

I've played w/ a fellow photographers 1Ds! ~> The focusing seems rediculously quick and clear to me :dunno: ~> Also, there are two different Mark III's There is the 1D (sucks) and the 1Ds (.) <~ I'm planning on the 1Ds!

If you saw me driving then you need to stop lying about it being clean ... I havent washed it in 2+ weeks!!! Maybe this weeked...

Not! :lmao:
-Congrats again on the purchase!!! I'm SURE you will love it!!!

ah yes indeed it was the 1D i spoke of.

and well it was dark out and looked decent. saw it from behind, saw the control arms and shit and was like "damn that things slammed!" then saw it from the side and figured it was you.

and dave: i'm crazy busy working over at busch gardens, they have me at 37 hours this week so it'll probably have to be after 2 weeks, after my sisters graduation and shit...

+1 its not about the 1-2k Cam. Its about the glass:crack:

Ehh... Although the glass is important it also depends on what you're shooting! ~> I would hate to go to shoot a professional Sporting Event w/ a slow camera!

Example: Rebel = 3 frames a second ~> The Rebel cant write them to the CF card that quick enough so after about 30 jpegs/ raw images, the LCD Screen will read Busy... = :thumbdwn:

You need a Nice Body and Nice Glass! ~> Hence why most of us are broke as a joke .

thats a serious upgrade.

My glass list includes now:

Sigma 10-20
Sigma 24-70 2.8
Nikkor 50mm 1.8
Nikkor 70-300 VR

Not the "best/most professional" glass available, but with what I shoot, I cant really tell the difference between the Nikon equivalent (for instance the 24-70 2.8 Nikkor) that costs almost 3x as much. I know its in the glass but it IS in the body too. Like Chris M said, you dont want a slow camera, and I was getting ahead of the D50 by quite a bit, and since I may be shooting for my school paper now and then, having this will be awesome at a few football games :D and I'll borrow their 80-200 2.8

what was holding you back with the d50?

Maybe b/c its only 2.5 Frames Per Second?

A fast camera sure is nice... I dealt with my 1st gen Digital Rebel (2.5FPS and even worse 4 shot buffer) for a long time... Now that I have my 30D I'm spoiled.

I agree that glass is prob the most important.... but speed would be a close 2nd IMO.

Most ppl dont ever utlize highspeed shooting. In fact it can be overly used in a lot of scenarios as a bad habit, a "shoot a lot and hope something sticks" I can say that from a lot of personal expierence when it comes to shooting stuff other cars racing, its a bad habit I need to get out. 3fps is plenty for anything thats not sports.

LMAO Yes.

Yeah, my latest camera shoots 5fps and it's really way more than I need. I used it last week in combination with bracketing to get a set of handheld images I could use for HDR. That's really the only thing I've used it for, and honestly, it isn't something I do often.

SaturnTypeR's shutter fell apart and you have a lens in for repair. Don't you mean "Good thing it's a Nikon and not a Canon." ;)

On the other hand... My Lens is broken due to my Fiance Dropping it at the McDill Air Show... Yeah she's special in her own way :tard:!

my canon has over 100k clicks thru it so suck it!

Imnot downing his new camera, im just wondering what was holding him back wit the d50. The only thing I dont like about my 30d is the lack of sensor cleaner, which doesnt hold me back, it just be nice tyo have since its always dirty

what was holding me back with the D50?

I dont think i can pinpoint it, but it was just time to move up. i'm at a point where i feel i would just benefit from it. yes the 50 was on the slow end and didnt have many of the new features but i dont regret anything from it. i was getting it ready last night to sell and i really had a moment where i was a little sad, gonna miss the thing! its done me SO well in a lot of instances, got me a LOT of great shots. i'll never forget my first SLR lol

edit: should be here on tuesday, so i'll probably have the first pics up next weekend after my sisters graduation
