OK I have two 440 blocks rusting away outside and I noticed this on one of them. Does anyone know what exactly it does? Im assuming its to get better oiling but Im not sure. Only one block has it and it was rumored to be a racing motor. Im thinking of rebuilding one of the blocks but I always seem to have too many projects going on.
Sorry for the larger pics.

Wow. I have never seen anything like that b4. Hmmmm. I doubt it is a factory install mainly by the looks of the wear mark on top of the hose wearing it was rubbing against the intake. I cant make out where the hose comes from. Is it the oil pump? If so it really doesnt make sense to plumb in a hose between #1 and 3 lifter bores. If it was a supply it would be better to run it to the back of the block at the plug of the oil gallery. I think it might be a previous owner mod. Do you know any thing about the history of this block. Does the other block look like something could be mounted in that location also? LMK. In mean time Ill see what I can dig up.

Oil Line
Some one is definetly rerouting oil from passenger gallery to some where; We used a simalar set up on small blocks to supply oil to the heads but our use was for race only we installed #2 and #4 cam bearings backwards; to shut oil off from cam to heads and rerouted the lines off the front of the passenger gallery.
hope this helps in some way.
Hope that helps you out some.
Good Luck!! :)

Cool thanks for the info. Its probably used for something similar to that. The other block has no provisions for this tube anywhere so it was something that was put in by a previous owner. The only thing I know is the the block was used for racing purposes (or at least built that way) and its supposed to have some special pistons in it. Although I have yet to verify that.
Ive been debating on rebuilding this motor and then finding a car to put it in. Id love to find a nice Challenger or Cuda. :D But right now I just have too many cars to work on.
