I just passed my first 24 hours, quit cold turkey. I hear the next two days are worse then the first one. I wanna shoot someone, I can't stop coughing and eating  I found myself taking walks and doing things I don't normally do to get the craving to go away.

Congrats man. Sometimes you take alot of heat for your posts...even from myself. But, not on this one. Good job and I hope you keep going.
I quit for a year and started back out of sheer stupidity.

The "want" is the biggest factor in any attempt to quit...whether it's smoking or eating bad food, drinking or sexing up ugly chicks...lol
If you don't really want to stop, you never will.

my dad just recently quit for a year after smoking for 40 years. he said the coughing will stop after 2 weeks or so and he said you will feel 10 times better not smoking and sleep better after a while. good job!

Yea, I feel like fighting myself sometimes lol, knocking myself out like Suge Knight and waking up 3 days later instead of 3 minutes later, maybe then the craving will be a lot
less.
OH and Chris, since I joined this site most my post's have been to do just that, spark up shit, it's fun every once in a while to get everybody riled up. You can't say you don't have fun arguing on here sometimes.

You are right... I love to argue on TR every now and then.
The burning desire, is how I define the will to make an actionable change. The hard part is making it a lasting change. You really will be changing the nature of your personality to make it stick.
I wanted nothing more in the world to be athletic. I worked my ass off, ate only the best foods. I got very close to where i wanted to be. I was happy... Then shit hit the fan in my life and I retreated to my old ways. I guess we all have that comfortable place in our minds where we like to go when shit gets hard. I guess the difficult part of it is locking the door to that room and never opening it again.
Good Luck dude, I hope you do it.

i am trying to quit myself. i have had 2 cigarettes in the last 36 hrs when i was smoking almost a pack a day. i quit one time for a couple years and started back up. this time its going to stick though. i was ready to break shit at work i was so edgy today. luckily, i am off the next 2 days, so, hopefully the big cravings will have passed by the time i go back to work.

i mean fuck i almost got into a fight with one of the gooks at BP cause he wouldnt sell me a pack of cigs on friday even though i had my jail record printed out with my DOB on it...
mac you know that BP on 62nd and 4th...
he wouldnt sell it to me i was drunk and really needed a cig so i was like wtf you fucking towel head mother fucker... the bitch actually jumped over the counter and was getting in my shit... so i started calling him other stuff (which will remain unknown) and my friend is in her car yelling at me to get back

I would look into some of those "quitting smoking" drugs. My g/f's dad smoked for 20+ years and he quit with the help of one of those drugs.

really works thats what made me quit but if you feel the urge that you need a cig after the pills are done your suppose to request more until that urge was gone... well i had that urge and i fell for it =\... but it really makes the cigs taste nasty like really nasty even makes the smell of smoke taste nasty.... this pill works wonders.
