Very Sad news. I am not sure how this will impact the rest of the year.

On a lighter note. They had some very cool cars / teams at this race.

ALso I spent some time on our car yesterday. Got the brakes fixed- it was the Master braky cyl. Installed the New rotors and Azena tires.

Here are some new photos.. on our website.

Wow, that sucks. Really a harsh reminder for us that these games we play are dangerous and safety is important!

I just want to make sure this gets reported properly. saying somone was KILLED is not the right term.. someone died at the event, and may have died before hitting the wall. but he DROVE into a wall. yes Loren is right we reap what we sew, however this was not a racing fatality due to contact, or poor design, and not negligence. buy saying someone was "killed" it infers bad mojo on an unfortunate situation.

Hopefully the family is good people and will not sue the event staff. since Event insurers are a fickle bunch as it is. give them any silly reason to think an event is unsafe ands they will jump on it.

Yeah, it seems that it is possible that the driver had a health issue that put him into the wall, and it wasn't the crash that killed him. Be that as it may... the same thing could happen to any driver at any time, and even if that driver is not you, it could still end with you testing your own safety equipment.

Amateur racing is a scary business. Between people passing out behind the wheel, or just plain being stupid, we have to be prepared for anything.

Loren is right, while I have much chagrin for the Safety Nazi's at most events, but it's a dangerous game we play, every once in a while a car will roll at an autocross or slide into a hard object and it's a chilling reminder.

but I'll be honest in 15+ years of being around racing/autocross I have witnessed only 4 incidents and 3 were judgment errors, one was a stuck throttle, (so I guess not killing the ignition was judgment) but that was more comedy then horror since the car just kept going straight, over a field, through a fence and into another field. and all 3 only one involved a trip to the ER, for mild cuts.

In the same time I've lost 2 friends to cancer, one to 9-11, and one to a train crossing. and have seen countless wrecks on the street. so in the grand scheme of things racing is safer then many activities.

In all this time around racing I've only known one driver who died racing. and it was in a car I had built... but he was STREET RACING, (Somthing I DO NOT condone) and it was the street racing that caused the accident.. it took me time to get over that one espically when I called his house to tell him some parts arrived and I had to hear it from his mother... so you'll understand my hatred for street racing.

I honestly believe there are few safer places then a well built racing car, on a circuit surrounded by other good drivers. now when one or more of those things goes missing then it's a recipe for disaster. a Street car, driven by a kid, racing on the street, well that's about as dangerous as one can get.

Good two no Wurd iz keepin' an I on my well grammar.

I got cut off badly by a Miata last Saturday that was street racing a sport bike. What an idiot. (Like he has a chance against a sport bike.)
What really bothered me was that he was obviously an unskilled driver.
If you are gonna cut me off, learn to be smooth first. I don't need someone Spinning Out in front of me.
