does anyone know if there is a difference between the ecu's for the 302's in mustangs and the 302's in the lincoln continental's and everything? I'm undergoing a swap project and i think that maybe the lincoln ecu's might be toned down performnce wise making it a poor choice to choose a lincoln ecu over a stang's.

In addition, the Non-HO PCM's I believe are all speed/density, batch fire. This is certainly not a good choice for any kind of performance application. Also, the availability of tuning and calibration for the Lincoln stuff is pretty sparce. I hear you can get a 're-man' A9L Mustang PCM from NAPA for less than $100 these days, so I don't think there is any good reason not to use it.
