I have a trip planned for India this summer and thinking of getting a D80 for my trip. Was wondering whats a good lens for photos of architecture and landscape.

Not sure what's available for Nikons. Generally, ultra wide angle lenses (10-22mm or something similar) are better for architecture and landscape.

As far as versatility for a trip goes, get the Nikon 18-200 VR. That's the most versatile as far as focal lengths that Nikon makes. One lens, all the way from wide to telephoto, and VR - can't go wrong.
For architecture/landscape, that's dependant on what focal lengths you like to shoot with. An ultra wide (Sigma 10-20, Tokina 12-24 or Tamron 11-24 or whatever it is) is usually good, but it's not a requirement. Your 18mm kit lens will do architecture and landscapes just fine.
