My car is throwing a p0171 code and I think the sensor is going bad on me. Id like to swap a known good one in to make sure thats the problem before I bite the $175 bullet for a new one. If anyone has a spare one (doubtful) or would be willing to let me swap mine for yours for a bit to test, Id appreciate it. Im in Clearwater, but Im willing to drive anywhere in the Tampa area. Ill even throw in a six pack of your choice.

Oh and Im not sure if the MAFs on all Subarus are compatible, so lets just keep this to EJ205 cars to be sure.

Thanks.

Sure have. I made sure to try all of the cheap possible solutions before the expensive ones. At this point its probably either my MAF or front O2 going bad, both of which arent cheap. Since my wideband and front O2 are reading the same in closed loop, Im betting on the MAF.

No problem. I really dont want to just up and buy one, but if no one steps up here I might end up with no choice.:(

EDIT: Just found that the part number for the MAF sensor is the same for both 2.0 and 2.5L cars. So, anyone with an STi willing to step up? My 6-pack offer still stands...:deal:

How long do you need to borrow?

he should just need to reset ecu, conncet maf and then battery back on...drive it for a bit to see if the code comes up...
brake boosting to atmosphere in 3rd about 3k rpm helps advance the tq map's learning process a good bit too

Ok this car is starting to annoy me. Ive had the code for over a month now trying to troubleshoot it. Go out to the car tonight and start it up...no CEL??? Car seems to be running a little smoother, mostly at idle. But I changed nothing and its gone.

Well for now I want to hold off and try and figure out why the hell the code is gone now. But if I do need it, it would be for 30 minutes tops. The car ran pretty crappy at idle, especially after an ECU reset so I would probably know right away after we swapped it. Probably check the A/F learning and correction with a laptop to be sure too.

Ill update the thread as to whether I do or dont need it.
