well went out to airfest today and i was standing next to thing guy with an xti and a 70-200 with a 2x on it. we started talking and then he goes here use this. he hands me a tamrom 28-300 to use for the day:-o. loved the lens, some came out blurry cause i have never used a zoom lens but here ya go guys. :D

thanks man i wanted to get some clearer ones of the jet but its hard to focus on that dam thing at full zoom lol i was practicing with the seguals since they are not as predictable as the jets

yeah i took 600 something, but i didnt take any shots of like the little planes flying because i have enough of those from Sun N Fun...I got a lot of good wide angle shots of the big cargo planes too!

of course its against policy to do it. but they can "push the envelope" and what happens here is that being close to the speed of sound parts of the plane are going supersonic. but yes, the plane is one piece, however areas of the plane and surfaces where air is rushing over become supersonic, going from point A to point B over the surface hence we see this effect...

i talked to my dad AND to the guys at the show, pilots of the other 18's, that said the exact same thing...

Well you are sorta correct. If the vapor is stuck to the wings like a blanket or trail the wing in vortices you are correct. If you have a cone shape anywhere along the A/C then not quite so correct.

You see the sound barrier moves along the length, width & bredth of the A/C as it goes faster and faster.

Just like a propeller, a flight surface can actually be moving faster on one side then the other. As an A/C gets closer and closer to breaking the sound barrier that cone of pressure waves gets closer to the nose and then aft of the A/C, once it completely passes - then boom - boom.

But local and small booms are heard and seen all time near airports. in 05 the Blues #5 did over the SF Bay. He broke the barrier with just the nose of the A/C and broke several boat windows and injured a sailor to two.

Actually this is called the doppler effect and has two booms one for the nose and one for the tail. It is possible to have just the nose and not the tail go through the barrier (they slow down fast enough).

The vapor is caused because of the vacuum effect of both the doppler and the wing shape, it's speed, the humidity, altitude etc.

It really doesnt matter when its healed. Ive had my other one for 3 or 4 years no problem besides fading but thats from all the color... My new one is on my forearm and its black. No coloring yet

It wasn't that hard to follow the plane, just keep the eye off the viewfinder open and the one on the viewfiender following the plane!:-o

The camera was a Nikon D40 with a ebay UV filter on it, which did nothing but provide protection the the face of the lens. I edited them using some bloatware pre-loaded on Vista. Can't wait to get PS.

Also I was kind of mad that even though it was so hot and bright out, I couldn't take pics past 1/1250 shutter speed, maybe because of the hood or high zoom.

they're good shots its just the color and white balance isnt very good.

Aperture, almost all the time! :D

i'm too lazy to go manual most the time because i need it to be fast and ready to go, unless i'm doing static shooting then i'll go to manual. but just about 98% of the time im in aperture, and if you want that little bit of motion blur and youre in aperture just bump up the f/ really quick and youre good to go

well they are going at 5-7x the speeds of the cars at the GP, plus you arent try to blur the backround since there really isnt a background
