So who's tallied up their monthly gas expenses recently? :-o :crack:
It really makes me sick that with what Amanda & I pay in gas/month; we could own about a $100k home! :puke:
-Josh
Edit: Forgot to post my monthly gas expense... I spent $401.14  Amanda spends about $18 each way to work, but she's not done her April expenses yet ((slacker))

Well ... the wifey's Cobra slurps 93 Cartel-o-Tane and my 5.0 Explorer still gets high on 87. We both drive about 40 miles daily. This expense has taken a big bite out of our cash flow also, even with well tuned rides.
Fuel in South Carolina was 20 cents cheaper last week on vacation --- let's all go on vacation! Right-Huh?
Good thing Cory feeds his 347 now-a-days.

the stang $100 if we take it out of the garage ( im afraid the garage will run away if the stang is not there to hold it down!)lol
so if you guys see josh and i at a stop light begging for cash (sign will probably read help the homeless josh needs money to get frankie back on the road!) so pay up suckers if you see us!!!

The good news is that my work pays for my weekly driving fuel costs...$80 every two days. That's about $800 per month. :-o

We have 3 vehicles. 92 Astro van, 4.3 v6, averages 18 - 23 mpg. 87 GT mostly stock, averages 16 - 17 mpg. 96 GT Cobra clone, averaging 16 - 22 mpg. We average $200 a week for all 3. Roughly $800 a month just for gas. In less then 4 years we've gone from $400 a month to $800 a month for gas expenses.
Its outrageous. We need to pull together and march on Wash DC and let our Govt know that we are sick of paying through the nose of fuel prices.
Friend of my father inlaw drives a semi truck. Says it costs him $1000+ a week in diesel,.. he just passes it on to his broker who passes it on to the consumer. We are the consumer. Thats why food and everything else will be going up through the roof with fuel prices. My salary hasnt gone up to match the added expenses. I wish I knew what we could do get a message across that we wont stand for this. At this rate,.. we'll be paying $5 gal gas in the next 12 - 15 months. Dont know about you guys,.. but $5 gal is my breaking point. Mustangs will be taken off the road and removed from DD duty at that point. I'll be riding a scooter.

Well I drive from Pasco to Tampa daily; then tour Tampa, Pinellas, and Pasco all day, each day showing our homes.
I can't drive a scooter to work - no way I'd live longer than a week! A scooter on the Vet or I-275, fahget aboud it!
My lady drives 49.5 miles EACH WAY to work. She works in Brooksville! So she puts over a 100 miles daily on the car, and she gets good gas mileage - but it's still so expensive. We're waiting to compute her expenses, and then add in our tolls :crack:
I bet we eclipse the $1,000 mark for the month :(

I feel the same way. I got an email from a friend saying we should all not buy gas on the same day,.. that would teach the gas companies. I laughed. So then what? We just buy that much more then next day. They wont notice. The only thing that would hurt the gas companies is if we all buy electric or alternative fueled vehicles.
I myself am leaning toward buying a 99 - 03 Ford 7.3 diesel truck and setting up a veggie system as a DD vehicle. I get a tow vehicle and get to keep my Mustangs. Thats the only thing I can think of. Its that or buy a scooter. LoL

How much does a Veggie Conversion cost, and where would one find fuel for such a thing? I know I heard that some restaurants used to GIVE it away; now are charging :dunno:
I did see an ole beater Diesel on C/L a while back for like $7k because it was a Veggie Burner.
I just don't know how else to get ahead, or even break even at this point - with having at or over $1k/month in gas/tolls for Amanda & I. With that rate of expense, we'll never be able to move closer to work for either of us, because we won't be able to put enough money away to stay ahead of the curve

The jeep doesn't do to bad really. I get about 17-18 miles a gallon. Turn the a/c on and sit in traffic and it drops down to the 15 range.
I've been pretty impressed by the 4.0 though as it sure runs well and has plenty of low rpm tq to get it moving. Not exactly fast but i'd say with a good cai and exhaust it would pick up a good bit.

Wednesday: 43,603 miles - 43,724

So I took a day off of work last week (Friday) because I was sick (still am; yuck). But here's what I wound up with:
43,899 miles = 479 miles in one week.
As an average (using 6 days for this particular week) = 79.83 miles/day.
$3.63/gallon average
18 miles/gallon average
32.976 gallons bought
$120.00 spent
18 miles = $3.63 (average)
$16.09 daily travel expense
$96.54 spent on this particular week
Does that math look right? I think so... Considering I've got a little bit left in the tank this morning and made it to work already :dunno: Either way you shake it; basically $100/week + tolls... :yikes:

Yeah, I know. I was using the average cost that I actually incurred on those two fill-ups particularly. I can't believe this shit; it's getting ridiculous
FWIW - I saw a Honda Insight w/an RSX-TypeS swap that is getting over 40mpg :yikes: in the LHT Performance "shop forum" here on TR. Insane.
I just can't afford to a.) not have a tow vehicle, b.) go completly upside down on trading my truck in on a "new" gas sipper, or c.) even afford to get financed on ANY vehicle at this point in time (income is = Zero; job is a 1099, so no W-2 income; etc)....
