My tranny just took a dump in my 99' Trans Am. I found a guy to rebuild it for about $500-$600, but I need to find a decent clutch. Does anyone know of any? Something cheaper the Spec stage 1, which is over $250 I think. Thanks!

Let me get this straight, you want a clutch thats cheaper than $250, and you want it to be "decent" ?

Go with the LS7 clutch.. I got mine from scoggins dickey with the LS2 flywheel for like $500. Good up to around 500HP.. Cheaper than rebuilding the stock clutch, and it's better.

Thanks for the help Z28! lol. M-ten, do you know where I can get a LS6 clutch and pressure plate? I heard they will bolt right up to a LS1 fbody. And I was just gonna resurface my flywheel. I don't plan on making anything over 400-450hp any time soon, don't have the money.

try goin through Advanced Auto.. i replaced the clutch in my camaro a couple months ago and i got a basic kit that had everything including throw out bearing, pressure plate, etc and it only cost me $200

Go to Scoggins Dickey.. And make sure you get the LS7 clutch, not the LS6. Get the LS7 clutch, it comes with an LS2 flywheel. I think the total price for that was around $460.. I also got either the master or slave cylinder -- can't remember which one.. for a very good price.. All together I think I paid around $500.

Very good clutch and was very inexpensive.. You can also get an aluminum flywheel for another like $150 or so, I didn't get it because I didn't have the money at the time.

Hope this helps :)
