So you want a hood, but not one designed for your lens?
If you get the wrong size it will likely either a) not be as effective as it could be or b) cause vignetting.
Check out b&h, search through the canon lens threads and find one that fits your lens threads (or bayonet mount).

Clueless Man!!! I tried to search but I came up empty!!! Do you think it has anything to do w/ the internals of the lens ~> shape of the glass's or crystals? Before you try to find this thing, just put a longer hood (the style you're looking for) up to the lens and take a picture! Check to make sure the hood isn't in the picture! This may be why you cant find one!!!
Good Luck finding something!!!

the thread MM doesnt matter for the hood if its the correct dedicated hood. It screws to the outside of the lens barrel not to the threads. If you wanted just a regular screw in one NTP has those in stock for like $8-10. They are rubber collapsable ones. Give them a call anyway cause they do sell Tamron stuff as well.

Alright then yeah im trying to get the one that goes on the lense itself not to the glass. Good call.

I know how Canon Lens Hoods work (I have 3 of them) but wasnt too sure about the one you posted...

The Collapsable Hoods get a :thumbdwn: from me! They look corny, cheap, unprofessional, and they collect a lot of dust/ dirt!

Just for reference, the style you guys are talking about is called a bayonet mount hood. Dave, does your lens have the bayonet mount receiver for the hood?
I've never tried a hood from a different lens before, I'd guess that it won't work. If I were you I'd call North Tampa Photo and ask them.
Here's a source for screw in hoods, rubber and metal:
