I just did the same thing yesterday in the rear shock. Luckily my lca came off easy and I just took it to a shop and they got it out. My problem was the nut on the shock was welded. They just heated it up and got the impact. Those old bolts suck ass.

When I'm installing aftermarket adjustable coilovers for people, I have seen that happen. On every installation that I do, I put anti-seize material on the threads so the customer can get it apart next time when he wants to. That way he doesn't have to own an impact wrench like mine.

As to solving the problem now, one solution (there is ALWAYS more than one way to do anything) ............where the head is wrung off a bolt that is tightly screwed into a welded-on nut..............is to cut off the nut
that's welded on, punch out the bolt, paint around where the nut was removed, insert a new bolt with anti-sieze on the threads, or use a nylock nut in it's place.

On cars that I work on, I also am generous with anti-seize in the grooves of a suspension bolt that something pivots on. It reduces the friction, makes the bolt (and what it rubs against) last longer, and gives me a smoother suspension motion.

If you want that welded-on nut properly and cleanly removed,
get back with me.-Bob

What part of town are you in?

No problem.
If you need something pressed out, I own a hydraulic press and a
"suitcase" of dies and jigs to remove/install almost anything
whether import or domestic.-Bob

Once the nut is gone, you might be able to punch out the bolt with a drift punch and a hammer.

so it took me a while but i finally got some time and ficed it today ... i got a punch and began to hit it out after i snapped the weld on the nut .. which was very easy .. but it would not go .. so i decided to tighten the nut to see if it would pull out the broken bolt and it worked great as soon as it turned i used the punch and it came right out ... thanks senor honda for the idea i didnt want to have to take out the lca to press it out .. = )

No problem, man.

Although low cost/expedient solutions seem to irritate some people.........

I'm glad you got it done.-Bob
