This project has been going on for a few years now. It is taking long because of me not having the time i want to spend on my ride. haha being the only engineer at my job that do what i do has it's downfalls i guess  anyways back to the car. Here is my ford 8.8 shortened down for my 84 ae86. now i tried to keep it as simple as i can, so what i did for the rear end to fit is i only cut the driver side of the ford rearend to the same length as the passenger side. then when we finished cutting and welding, we just went to the junk yard and got another 8.8 passenger side axle to use on the driver's side of the rearend. the rear end i used is from a ford explorer eddie bower with disc brake, 373 gears and posi.

As you can see the 15x8 fits really well with the 5.5 backspace.

Well i started taking everything out, and man i hate it when you don't really notice how bad something is until you pay attention to it. below you will see what happens when you don't use the the plastic battery tray when the battery is leaking acid. oh well i will be sanding it down so screw it :?

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee20/3tcpower/P3170007.jpg

here is another thing i really hated. look at this crossmember!!! the dillhole who i bought the rolla from welded a set of mounts to the crossmember and now i need to get a replacement one. i will also be getting rid of the busted p/s rack n pinion.

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee20/3tcpower/P3170008.jpg

well, i started taking the front end off.

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee20/3tcpower/P3180009.jpg

man!!! that booster was a pain in my @ss to take out. i'm getting there one step at a time.

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee20/3tcpower/P3180010.jpg

OH BOY!!! look at this mess i made

OK! well i'm back and now i'm working on getting the engine bay and front wheel wells stripped of its paint. looking at how these car were built, i know i'm in for a battle. first i will start with the battery tray.....man this thing is rough looking.

now we know what will happen if you let battery acid sit on metal long enough  well as you can see in the picture i'm drilling out the stamped welds that holds the tray in place.

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee20/3tcpower/P4220013.jpg

this Mother F...... thing is getting on my last nerves

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee20/3tcpower/P4220012.jpg

Finally after 30 minutes of playing with this POS...i got it off.

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee20/3tcpower/P4220014.jpg

With the tray out of my way i can start stripping the engine bay paint.

this is all i used for the paint..this stuff is top of the line shit! there is now odor at all and unllike the other spray can strippers you can just constantly keep spraying without having to run awy from fumes. i recommend this to anyone.
NOTE: please don't get this stuff on your skin..
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee20/3tcpower/EAR322_2_R.jpg

and you will also need this to peel away the paint

well its time to start applying paint stripper to the engine bay. wow after 10 minutes or so after applying the stripper this is whats left.

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee20/3tcpower/P4220015.jpg

the fire wall was bare metal in minutes but other parts needed heavier coats. so while a wait for the stripper to do its job, i went ahead and started cleaning the tranny. now i know you remember what it looked like.

i used the 80 and 120 grit sandpaper wheels for the drills for all the tough spots. i think it came out pretty good for the lack of tools i had.

thanks bro! i this car is going to be my daily driver, so i want it to be done right the first time so later on i don't have to go back over it. basically what i'm doing is prepping the engine bay and wheel wells for paint "which i will do on my own" that way once the bay and wells are painted i can get the car running somewhat then send the rest of the body to be painted by a pro. i

DAT*NIZ

you are right about that, 3tc>4ag all day. don't get me wrong, the 4ag is a very good motor but pound for pound the 3tc will out perform the 4ag n/a or turbo. hehe but i still rep the 4ag because my cousin in St. Croix U.S. Virgin Islands has one and its bad as hell.
