Cleaning Cars

Hey TR I'm looking for a job that cleans cars...which is my passion and i was wondering do you know any place that i can go to apply or if you know any places that are hiring.
I'm only 17 so im not sure you need any kinda degree(I highly doubt it) lol but lmk whats out there.
P.S- I live in St.Pete (4th street) so i dont want a job in Tampa or something that is more than 20-30min away

Do you want to clean cars or detail cars? I've been detailing for 2 years now and I'm telling you it is going to be EXTREMELY difficult to find a detailing job somewhere. Times are not too good to be looking for a job AND you dont have any experience (you didnt mention so I'm assuming). Just go to any local carwash and ask them

Go to a dealership, i have 2 buddies that worked at Nissan and they clean and wash cars.

if you go to a dealer with no experience dont be surprised if they have you doing all the shit jobs until you get the steps down of how to really detail/clean a car. i have a shop in st pete where i am lucky enough to work on alot of exotics and thats where i started 10 years ago. it sucks at first, but it gives you time to observe the other detailers there that have experience and learn from them, also givin you time to find out which ones know what they are doin and which ones should never pick up a rag. car washes such as grand prix and pelican are good places to start out at. they will work with your school schedule and theres alot of cars that come through so you can learn what you can and cant do on different models. good luck!

There's a full service car wash on 4th street around 34th ave. They might hire you to dry cars off or something, but the pay will be shit.

id say try a dealership, they are always looking for people, offer benefits, and pay according to what you do...

Wow.

I wasn't going to even say anything... But let me put my two cents in really quickly before I go to sleep.

This isn't a passion, a passion I would say is something you take a great deal of time doing. Washing and vacuuming, and using armor all on the dash sounds like a 10-15min average joe job. I know if I were looking for someone to clean out my car, I wouldn't want them to use armor all on the dash.

There is a lot to learn in the world of detailing cars. The more cars you do is the more skilled you'll get. You need to do every car, learn from your mistakes. Takes years of practice before you even get good. I'm 20, and I been doing it since I was 14.

You need to learn how to use a porter buffer, notice I didn't say a high speed buffer, not the autozone paint burners.


Put it to ya like this, go to car dealer ships because they don't care how you clean the cars or what you do to get 'em clean. They're motto is less is better. You can use the worst wax, worst interior cleaner, no buffer and get the job done right and get it to kinda shine and they'll be happy.

When your dealing with actual customers like you and I, you need to take your time an do it right. Don't cheap out because it'll come kicking you back in the face in the end.
