well lots of them are lemons, i think something with the transmission im not sure though, search srt4s your bound to find something on them on tr. i would never own one, but i have to admit that ive seen some pretty nasty srt 4s. im sure some owners will chime in, theres a couple nice ones on tr.

Never really cared for them personally, but theres no denying there's some fast ones out there.... I'd probably rock an evo before an srt4, but thats just me....

I've ridden in a few and driven like 2 before. They are very cheap for what you get assuming u don't buy a lemon.....

if you can live saying and hearing you drive a neon, then your good to go. everyone has different taste...some will say no to a 2004 srt-4 but would jump on a 88 sohc crx everyone's different. from what ive heard the earlier models had problems the rest were because everyone was beating the heck out of the car and didnt know why it broke.

the 04's were the first ones with limited slips, i would at least go for one of those...
its a tricky thing though, because srt4's are the DSM's of today. So many people bought them cause they were cheap and quick, then they beat the hell out of them, modified them like an amature, and sold them after they were hacked up.
Ive worked on many, but few people whos srts i worked on ever did wise and tasteful mods...buy an all stock srt4 and you should do alright...

Eh...

I am THE SKITTLE.

and I will tell you,well...What do you wanna know first off?

My Srt-4 was lemon lawed...It was a 04..I snapped motor mounts,my a/c compressor fell out of the car,I broke numberous axles,my transmission fucked up,as well as numberous other things. The motor NEVER failed though. The car has a aftermarket wastegate actuator, and a downpipe, never launched "hard" and so on..

SO.

Do they have problems?
A:YES,They "can".I had mine from 3 miles on the odo.Out of the year I owned it,It was in the shop for 6 months.

Was it fun?
A:Yes,it was a fun car,minimal mods makes it a 12 second car.

Was it worth it?
A:No,it really was'nt..Granted I got some money back,I paid $400 for SIX months, that I had NO car. That's without FULL COVERAGE insurance.

I recommend,If you want reliable,Look into a Sti or Evo..Well..STi atleast. :-)

There's a few Srt guys on here, got a question just ask.

mine was puttin down 425hp 396Tq but had trans problems all tha fuckin time. I owned tha car for about a year before I flipped it 10 times and ended up with a broken back.

Like everyone says I would go for and evo or sti if u want reliable.

Well, I have alot of friends that have them and they all love them(some putting down 450whp on a stock tranny w/ just bushings and shifter) BUT I wouldent buy one b/c all of the ones ur going to find are going to be beaten on by some young kid or something of that nature...

BUT if u can find one for REALLY cheap, u can also build the motor for pretty cheap and have a 500-550whp reliable DD

I owned mine for over 2 years. I bought it with 7 miles on it. I only had 2 problems, a fuse blew(whoopty doo), an an injector went out. Total cost to fix: $11. I have a friend with one that has 78k on the odo with him beating on it day in and day out for 73k of those miles, and the only thing he's had to fix or replace was the clutch and that was at 77k. I miss mine so much, but I needed something to pull a boat. I miss the sound and the gobs of tq.

now if you want, i have a 95 neon 4 door, no motor or trans, but i have a 2.4 block and new srt-4 internals(that will fit right in) with a race head, the car already has a 225 fuel pump, and i have a tranny with welded differential you can get a srt turbo for 200 and guess what you have a 95 neon with built 2.4 insurance wont know crap and you can have it all under $3,000 and be faster than a stock srt-4....but if you want it reliable then yeah try to get a srt that still has an warrantee or under an extended warrantee.

you do realize that your car must have been a heap of shit if it made those numbers? usualy skittles put down the same hp/tq or very close to it. they dont make the same numbers as hondas.

to the OP, I had an 04 (dont get an 03 if you buy) and I didnt have any problems. The only problems I did have tho was the 3rd gear synchros went bad two times---but then again I ran the car hard. I had not much money into it an was running 12.7s on street tires. I miss it alot and want another one but its too hard to find a well taken care of one

In order to really answer this, it would be helpful to know your goals or what is most important to you. Overall, I think srts are ok, and for the money are fairly quick out of the box, fairly reasonable to make fast for cheap and reliable. I don't like the interior, but that's just me.

i bought mine with 100 miles on it. the only problem i have ever had was that the bolts on the flexplate backed out. if you do buy one, i would recomend an 04 or 05. i have an 05.

as far as the hp/tq numbers. stock turbo will 9 times out fo 10 have higher tq than hp. there are some cars that have more hp than tq, but those are the ones that i have read about that are pushing over 700hp.

go to SRTforums.com - Dodge SRT Forums - SRT4, SRT6, SRT8, SRT10 and Dodge Forum (http://www.srtforums.com) where you can find basically anything you will need to know about these cars. they arent the best cars out there. yeah it is a NEON, and it is fwd, but it's a great feeling when you spank an evo, sti, v8's and they have to live with knowing they lost to a neon. however, at that point, generally that person you just beat, will start calling it an srt4.

btw, rep for everyone in here for not turning this into a typical bash srt4 thread :D

I had one for 2 years new. I got it in 04 and ran it into the ground and it still ran fine. Never broke anything....And it ran 13.1. I just got tired of the owners.

there are some pretty prickish owners, but there are the same with alot of groups. could say most supra owners i met are snobs also. :D i know alot of the bad srt owners and do not associate with them myself.
