I need you're help guys! I purchased an SLP Performance cold air-intake system complete for my 2000 Camaro Z28 5.7L V8 Automatic. I need a good knowledgeable shop to redo it all over again because the guy I hired to help me was a real amerture. I need someone who knows what the hell there doing please. Is there a mod shop in Tampa, FL anywhere that can redo it for me for a fair price? It's already installed but extremely half ass. The guy I paid didn't even do the cutting or proper adjustments as noted in the SLP Performance install directions right here> http://www.slponline.com/inst/21046.pdf (http://www.slponline.com/inst/21046.pdf)

Here's the pictures of the items that need installed...

Please give me the right advice as this needs to be installed a/sap! Thank you!

Rev Xtreme
However, that is not a difficult install. You could easily do it yourself with a hacksaw.

Great! I have an appt. with Rev Xtreme on Monday. They also said I should do the complete dyno tuning on my car. Is that really going to help at all? And can it be done cheaper then $349.99? because that's the price I was given. Is there another shop closer in Tampa just for Dino tuning?

It is not necessary, but you will pickup 20 hp. I had my car dyno tuned at RevExtreme by Jeremy. It is an LT1, but I picked up 18 hp to the tires. I still have my Hypertech programmer that only gave my 2. I paid $475 but was also on the dyno for 2.5 hrs.

whoa whoa whoa.... first of all, this is an EASYYY install. Hardest part is putting the FTRA kit, but I was able to do it with a little help. It is ABSOLUTELY not a $349 job. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Second of all, do NOT get a dyno tune now. I don't know why they would tell you to do that -- there was nothing done that warrants a full dyno tune. Only thing that would cause you to need a tune is the MAF, but not a full dyno tune.. Just some adjustments to the A/F or you will run too lean.

Shoot me a PM and I will help you out... But please, do not go there for $349 lol. That's WAYYY overpriced.

$349 isn't just for the parts install is it?? I thought it included the install and a full tune and dyno time. I don't think $349 is a bad price if it all inclusive, and I say do it. I agree the cai and maf install is simple, but the dyno tune would be the majority of the $349. Plus you will pick up close to 20 hp on top of what the cai and maf give you.

Nah he won't gain 20HP from a tune, on TOP of what he did. Maybe 20HP total.. but no need to spend that much on a full dyno tune when it's not necessary yet.. Save that money for a full tune until you put a cam in or something.

M-Ten,
Every car is different, you may be right. He may only pickup 15hp on top of the kit. I just know what I have seen and Jeremy Formato Fasterproms - Independent LSX Tuner & Porter for 94-08 GM Vehicles (http://www.fasterproms.net/index.html) picked up just below 20 on my LT1 and almost 30 on my LQ4. He said that if I bring in the my father-in-law's LS6 he could get over 20.

But what did you have done to it ?

you have no idea how conservatively these cars (lt1/ls1) are tuned from the factory

Ok but no need to spend $349 to tune it now. He can save that money and tune it when it's more necessary.. like I said before. Save until he does a cam or something like. Or even headers, but no need to waste $349 now

WOW! Lots of support and replies on the topic...thank you! Please allow me to reinerate..

The $349.99 is for the Dino Tune only. From what been posted in here I'm going to skip it altogether. Also, no shop is going to charge me $349.99 for installing the SLP Performance Cold Air-Induction kit system. I did talk to the shop over at AntiVenom EFI. The shop was really cool and I feel they will be the best fit for installing the SLP setup without question. They will charge the normal flat labor rate fee which is fine. They do this kind specialized custom installing all the time from what I know. Thanks again for the lead! As for the Dyno tune what a waste of money at this point. If I had done new headers and some internal engine work then I could see spending the extra money on having a Dyno tune done to the car. For the most part I'm still using alot of OEM stock parts.

no.. you didn't go there.
i only have current 1/8 times which is not the idea place for my car since i have the stock gears. 1/4 should be better.
the 1/4 times i do have are from the beginning of the build. so not accurate.

Hey Josh, You do know that the terms "stalled" and "broke" mean two very different things, right?
