99-02 r6 tranny Q 's
Hey everyone i have about 4 questions ...first my 99 r6 had the second gear problem but now it will only go into 1st. whats the best way to go about it should i have the tranny rebuilt if so how much or should i replace the whole package (engine,tranny) and is it easy to replace the whole thing ..ppl said if i can change the forks or a subframe then i can do it ..well anyhelp with this would be great i want it cheap and i want it on the road

since you want an answer, I will give ya one.... and will be blunt about it!
1st) you need to call a bike shop (actually a few) to get quotes to fix it. from what it sounds like is your dogs are bent, but I am not a professional, so take it to someone that is.
2nd) do research - ebay, craigslist, other forums (maybe the r6 board) for deals, see if anyone is selling.
3rd) compare your quotes to get your fixed vs. buying one and having it installed
4th) repeat steps 1-3 if your answer has not been answered by now.

When you say it only goes into first, it sounds like a broken detent spring. It is a common problem with that bike wich is fixable with the motor in the frame. If so, you must replace the spring (wich I have in stock) before you can tell if the transmission still needs to come apart. I'll PM you my number.

i bought a 02 r6 with the tranny problem, if its the dogs u need a rebuild....call up tony at RnR performance aell him what its doing and he"ll tell ya what needs to be done...if u drop the motor off he is good on prices, cheapest out of lik 10 places i called, and he undercuts it to make sure it dosent happen again most of the 99-02 r6's have the tranny problem, and undercuting the dogs is the only way to fix the problem..tell him chris or james told u to call..good luck...
