Getting new wheels soon but they do not come in gunmetal like I want. Should I have them painted or powdercoated? What is the difference in quality and durability? I pretty much have a powdercoater, but who does flawless wheel painting to look like they came that way?

I don't know how much you charge to paint a set of wheels but my local powder coater will do a set of wheels for $200. If you can paint a set of wheels cheaper than that I don't know if I would trust the paint quality.

If they are aluminum you might want to read this first:

^Interesting read. Not sure what kind of temps the wheels see in the oven at the powder coaters but we had one set done for a GSR that is auto-crossed and he has had no issues with the wheels.

i painted mine, it took about 2 days to do 2 wheels at a time, and with all the sand paper, dish soap, all the paint/clear it was about $60 to do all 4 rims, i used an entire can of paint on each rim and a 1/2 can of clear on each also.

Well $200 is a fair price for powder coat. I get around $150 for painted wheels in good shape.

The irony here is everybody wants cheap-good paint work but if its too cheap--they say it must be crap work:roll:
