Hey right now I have some cheap walmart camera with no options at all just flash on flash off and some other things that only work some times and the screens broken. It has 7.2 megapixels and I love the quality but it could use some more. I have some money to spend on a good beginars camera not looking to spend any more then 500 thoe. Any suggestions?

should start off with something simple yet has good options with it. Fujifilm s700, Canon S3IS or S5IS, Sony H5 are all some good point and shoot cameras that range from 200-400

Any camera you will buy will be out-dated in a year. That's the nature of the beast unfortunately.

Take a look at the cameras buda posted. Unfortunately buying a better camera won't make you a better photographer, so you're going to have to learn about photography as well as your camera.

Good luck, we all started out where you are.

Well right now my camera is holding me back, broken screen, really only a auto setting nothing really manual, barley any zoom, takes really bad quality pictures then will take really nice ones depending on it's mood.

I really like the Canon PowerShot S5 IS as posted above but is there like a step up from that between 300-400 that is nicer?

those cameras i posted all have manual settings plus pre sets to work with. They all are advanced point and shoot cameras. Spending 500 on a camera to start out with to me is kinda stupid. Buy a p&s and see how it goes. That way if you get tired of taking pictures our not breaking the bank.

This was taking with the s700 when i first started getting back into photography. Best thing to do is goto cc or bestbuy and try them for your self.

I honestly loved my frist P&S Camera which was a Canon Powershot SX100 IS. Awesome quality you can take it from full auto, to full manual settings, TV/AV/P/Macro modes, with 8.0MP simply amazing for the money. BTW I'm sure they run around 250, I got it for a little less during black Friday last year.
