i did a disk brake conversion with new spring, shocks and balljoints. the upper ball joints where original with the pop rivets. odd thing is, they where still good. the lower had been replaced and where still good. but i replaced them anyways since i messed up the boots. i have to use the old dust caps for now. i couldn't get the new one on.

it sure does ride a lot better now :mullet: still need to change over the victor intake for the airgaip i got. i want to install 2in coated header to replace the 2 1/8 supper comp headers. also change the rear gear from 4.10's to 3.50's or so.

disk brake kit was around 410 bucks shipped. then springs where 100 bucks, 60 bucks for shocks, around 90 bucks for ball joints. O"ya then there was the 2 rattle cans of paint- 10 bucks. i went with a semi gloss since i didn't want the parts to jump out at you and say "LOOK I JUST GOT PAINTED AND NOTHING ELSE DID" i wanted it to blend in and i feel it does really well.

so total was around 660 bucks.

PS: got the disk brake kit off ebay. price 340.00 + 70.00 for shipping, can't beat that.

The drums on my Challenger were swapped before I bought it. But I think they used Charger parts in the conversion. At least that is what I found for calipers on it (the hard way).

I'd like to get an actual E-body kit some time, if they sell them for about that I may do it soon.

It looks great. I bet it stops much better. Did you have to change the M/C too?

i didn't change the M/C. i had replaced it a little while back and they had the drum/ drum and disk/drum listed as the same one. i also didn't add the proportioning valve. but it brakes fine with no lock up from the rear tires.

Is it manual disc now, if so how does it stop now, I am wanting to do this upgrade on my 68 manual drum car. Did you go with lowered front springs.

ya, it's manual brakes. it brakes way better then it did with drums up front. it had a nasty pull to the right with drums.

i didn't go with the lowered front spring or spindles. since the firebirds sit lower than camaro's.

from what i read you want to go with the 2 inch drop spindles and then use full length springs. and if you think about it, it's way better way to go. your replacing the spindles anyways.
