Just thought I'd share my dyno results.

I've been to Brotherz twice, and am quite happy with the service and price.

Here's my car at 9 psi boost on a GT3071R turbo. This turbo can flow enough to do 400 hp, but at the time, we were just done installing the turbo and injectors, so it was a tuning session. Peak uncorrected was 307 whp, 245 lb/ft torque

I'm in the process of setting up the car for the Cobb AccessPort (reflasher), and will go back to dyno at 11 psi.

In the dyno pic:
Blue tuned @ 9 psi the first day on the dyno.
Green is me tweaking the boost controller a bit and getting it to get full boost 1,000 rpm earlier.
Red is with no boost controller, I think it peaks at 6 psi.

And here's a video: YouTube - Turbocharged RX-8 Custom Garrett GT3071R (MazdaManiac) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=v5YDqSnvpwo)

Is that a kit or custom setup? I've always wondered what a turbo would do on those...

It's the greddy turbo kit for the RX-8 originally. Unfortunately the mitsu turbo greddy ships with the kit is quite small, and uses journal bearings. Oil for cooling and lubrication. So they seldom last longer than 12k miles before requiring a rebuild.

The turbo has been replaced with a custom built Garrett GT3071R. Real ball bearings, water cooled. The fuel injectors were upgraded, now running 4x 380 cc, 2x 735 cc.

It has an upgraded fuel pump, new ignition system, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm now using the Cobb Racing AccessPort to reflash the PCM instead of using piggybacks for fuel management.

The only limiting factor for this engine over the RX-7 is that the REW has higher compression, so I don't plan on going much higher than 13-14 PSI for pump gas. I think close to 400 whp is attainable though.
