My stock slowness at the track [Archive]

I ran a total of 7 times. 5 against my buddy's 2000 Z28 and 2 against SteveGrizzle. I beat my buddy's z28 4 out of 5 times. the one time I lost I missed 3rd gear :oops:. The two times against Steve he red lighted but He would have beat me regardless. His car runs very good for what little is done to it and I also missed 3rd on one of our runs.. My best time of the night was a 13.19@107mph and I hit the rev limiter in 3rd this run. Good runs Steve, it was nice meeting you. I think if I had just shifted to 4th this could have been the 12.99999 I was hoping for tonight. The track was great with very few people there. I had a great time and I am pretty satisfied with my stock baseline runs. Here are my slips from slowest to fastest.

Good runs, I clicked off a 12.6@111.5 with a 1.997 60' twenty minutes after you guys left. That vette definitely moves good for stock, and good to meet you guys!

With some DR's and better 60's you are definitely in the 12's, or just shifting to 4th :lol:

At least you know you can hang with a C6Z now :lol:

I know. Jeremy has been out of town every thursday including this upcoming one. So no can do. But after this coming week and a new set of tires I will be out there! Its been a loooong time since ive run a car at the track so I cant wait to see what this one does!

H/C is pretty inxepensive these days, I think you will have to at least get a cam to do 11's.

I need to do some more mods before I go back, I think I have gotten all that I can get out of it.

My 97 went 13.2 @ 109 bone stock on the runflats.
Intake, exhaust, nittos, and a bad clutch 12.7 @ 112 mph.

yes stock tires stock everything except some lid the original owner put on. I was launching rather low in the rpms because I would spin too much so this in turn was bogging me a little bit and probably slowed my 60's down. I also was not powershifting as there is no need to beat the piss out of the car just to see what it will do stock. I got an average baseline number and I am happy with it.

My trap is higher as wellNot saying he's faster but ls1 Especially vettes are shitty 1/8th mile cars for the most part....If you take his best time (8.6) and multiply it by the "standard" 1.56 to get his 1/4 time it equates to a 13.4, yet he ran 3/10ths quicker....they are deff top end cars, so comparing 1/8th mile times with an ls1 is pointless....but either way 6/10ths is alot to make up...

With proper suspension any car can get good 1/8's, boostins car is totally stock and he got some 2.0's 60's. I think that is pretty good!

Also, if you look at auto ls1's you will see that they much stronger drag cars. some basically stock motor stalled auto are pulling 1.5-1.6 60's!

I dont get why there needs to be secret time slips, we arent racing for money and the cars arent all that fast...so why be ghey about it?

If you guys raced it should be pretty close, it would come down to who cuts the best light.... form a dig on the street my money is on the Vette, it would probably hook better on the street than Jap, from a roll, Vette all day, but dig at a prepped track, If Jap cuts a good light he should hold him off....Id watch.
