I found a decent truck, a 1983 Chevy K30 4x4 for $2200
Pro's:
383 stroker :)
4 inch suspension lift
underside is really clean, not rusty at all
decent body
Cons:
no exhaust, straight headers
interior is shoddy, pass side window wont roll up cuz the gears stripped in the door
vent windows are busted out
color of the paint is ugly
wheels and tires are nothing special
Biggest con, I'm not sure if a truck is what I really want. The only way to know is going to be to buy one and see..

What do you guys think?

I like it.
Looks like a great platform to build from.
Let me know if you decide not to get it. :-)

What are your goals/ plans? Its a good platform to start with. Is it 4wd? The cons are easily fixed.

I just want it for daily driver / sometimes offroad. yeah its a 4x4.
I found it on craigslist originally, just found it on chuckstrucks too, "$2700 takes the truck and the 44 tsl's/16.5wheels"
I dunno how much those wheels and tires are worth but it seems like it would be more than $500...

I wouldnt give that much though. As a DD, itll be a little rough. Depends on how many miles and what kind of reliablity you want.
It looks like it has a SFA which is nice to have though.

Someone on another forum was saying that it looks like it has a 10 bolt front axle instead of a dana 60 like it should, but it's not clear in the pics.
The guy selling it really doesn't know anything about it, he says he bought it to make it a mud truck then decided to just do his jeep instead. I wonder if he swapped some parts for his jeep and trying to dump it..

could be. If its a 10 bolt front, definately dump it.
Have him take a pic of the front cover.
I wouldnt give more than $1200.

yeah, it does look like a 10 bolt, and the one on his jeep sure looks like a dana 60

 If you could see underneath the truck, you'd be surprised at how good it looks, but yeah after talking to the guy last night, I've decided to pass on it. Even if for no other reason, they guy can't give a straight answer about anything.
I asked him what front end it has and he said "well those trucks either came with a dana 60 or a 10 bolt", which isnt true, AFAIK the 1 tons all came with the dana 60, and they only put the 10 bolts on the 1/2 & 3/4 tons.
"I know it's 8 lugs though, because I remember seeing that in the pictures"
I can't see the front lugs in the pictures at all, thats for sure...
I asked him to call me with the VIN and am still waiting.

Interiors on those trucks are so easy to fix up, there isn't anything to them..
