made some progress the past few days. water pump,rad,valves adjusted,motor primed,etc... oh and mike, i changed the filter !!!! :lol:
gotta wire up the pump,put in some tranny fluid in and get some fuel today after work today. so maybe tonight it'll be running... :D tomarrow at the latest.. got march's alt. bracket kit to install, but that won't keep me from getting it running... CAN'T WAIT !!!!!!!! :D

lol, better start on your way down here !!!!!! cause IT'S RUNS !!!!! fired it up this morning... :D BUT, having issues with the tranny.. :mad: put 5 quarts in it to fire up the motor (tranny guy said 4-5) and as the motor fired up i felt/heard a shutter in the car, thought it was the motor. got out and asked my dad if he heard it ? he said no. hmmmm start it up again and everything seemed fine. got the motor timed and added a few more quarts of tranny fluid. get in the car, tranny goes into reverse fine, pull it into low and NOTHING.. so, the tranny has reverse but no forward gears... so much for goin to sunshine weds. unless i race in reverse... :lol: no biggy, i still got a few weeks to get it fixed. gonna call the tranny guy tomarrow and see when i can bring him the whole car, cause i aint pullin the tranny on my back.. :crack:

anyways, it runs !!!!!!

yes i did, and i rotated the motor a 1/4 turn at a time while primeing (sp?) and after a whole revolution i spun it over by hand, still while primeing..

calling the guy tomarrow to see about taking him the car to get this taken care of.... damn, another trip to sebring.... :-o at least i can pick up the cooler i forgot after the 12hour race... :lol:

At the risk of showing my ignorance, I'm no tranny guy by any means, and I can show you a converter but have no idea how it works. With that said, aren't you supposed to slide the torque converter on rotate it and it pops in a little further like 2 or 3 times? Just wondering if you did that or if you even needed to. Not sure if that would have any effect of forward or reverse, but I was wondering if that may have been the clunking you heard? :dunno:

ya, i put a quart of tranny fluid in the converter before i installed it, and rotated it until it popped in.
i'm hopeing its a simple issue (valve body). funny thing is, i can start it up and no noises, goes into reverse and no noises, put it in gear and still no noises, just no foward movement.. weird..
i'm not bummed at all, cause i know charlie will take care of it.. :D
i was more concerned it was the motor. buying used stuff off the internet has always concerned me.. but this motor seems to be everything tim/maverick1090 said it is. fires right up and idles better and smoother than the old motor ever did.. :) so even though i have to go to sebring again, i still VERY PLEASED with everything.

took whitey to charlie yerterday, going back sat. to pick it up.. :D
as far as the "lack of fuel" goes, gonna set the n2o fuel pressure at 7+ psi.(the plugs didn't look to bad after the last two checks i did at 7psi). if they looked peppered after the first couple of runs i may try re-jetting the carb. mark also mentioned something about trying bobby or billy's carb on it.... gotta get it to sunshine first to see how it runs and go from there... :)

"WHIYEY IS FIXED!!! talked to charlie (whites tranny) and it was a issue with the valve body... he was having a bad day, and made a mistake, he fixed the problem and pulled the tranny anyways to make sure that there wasn't anything else wrong, HOW MANY TRANNY PEPS would admit to a mistake ????? NONE !!!! we all have bad days at work,but how often do we admit to mistakes????? I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW CHARLIE @ "WHITE TRANSMISSION" IS A STAND UP GUY !!!!!! he told me that if it was something he did he wouldn't charge me labor to RnR the tranny, and sure enough, he admitted a mistake, so no charge to me !!!!! any other tranny place probably would've made something up to charge me the labor, yes i had to take the car to sebring, BUT it's worth it for the HONESTY that he showed me !!!! :D in fact, if i don't convert little red (DD) back to a 5 speed soon he'll get the AOD to overhaul !!!!! :) so i go back to pick "whitey" up saturday.. oh, and did i mention that he let me leave my trailer there and he has the car inside his shop, how many tranny places would do that ?? :D
it's a drive, BUT i will do it again !!!!

6.34 @ 108 w/a 1.40 60' takin the scenic route in 2nd gear. on a 210 shot
so the new motor is making some power.. :D
I think the 2 1/2 year old slicks are a BIG contributting factor to the scenic route trips... so i bought some new ones today. hopefully that'll help.

it's weird. got there @ 9:05, and never once saw them spray or drag the track ALL DAY....... staging lanes opened at 9:20 and the first car went down at 9:25... :-o

but it was working pretty good for whitey... :D
