View Full Version : So how bad is 101% IDC?

I just flashed an XPT stage 2 91 octane map on my 03' WRX w/ Monster P&P TD-04, K&N panel w/ snorkel delete, ebay inlet, HKS catless TBE and gutted stock up. I'm running about 17 lbs in 1st-3rd and 18 in 4th. I logged my car and I got 101.3% IDC. Is this something I should be concerned about? I know people run over 100% IDC but that still seems like something that shouldn't be happening.

why are you running a 91 map first off?
definitely not good. how is it that an XPT map has you running so much fuel?
do you have a wideband? what kind of fuel mixture are you getting?

In boost I'm running 11.2:1 AFR. I don't have an EGT sensor right now. I'm running the 91 oct. map because I was thinking I'd rather start small and have a little extra knock protection since this is the first time I've gone beyond stock EM.
What do you guys think I should do?

I've been doing more research and it looks like I'm okay w/ running those IDC's.

Do you have a WBo2?

you have stock injectors?
i wouldnt run anything over 18psi on them....
Also... running over 95% is pretty bold IMO. it can be done, but it seems you really are not aware of what your car is doing...
no EGT or Wideband....

Thanks for all the help/suggestions. I think I might be spiking slightly in 3rd and 4th so I'm going to loosen the wastegate arm a little and try that. Also, I have about 30k on my fuel filter and the tanks been fairly low so I'm going to replace that just to start eliminating things. I plan on buying a WB02 and EGT later this week and until then I'm going to stay out of boost in the upper gears. How off is the AFR that I got from logging?

the afrs from the logs are useless period they are only useful during idle and cruise situtations in which the ecu is in close loop fueling.
if you are on the after market intake that has a possiblity of making the car run pretty rich. if you have not put the stock intake on then do that.
the spikes can be tuned out. just lower the wastegate % in the spiking area.
if you used the gm bcs on a none gm bcs map then that is the reason why its spiking.
did that car knock?

hmmm... I think, if you were running 93 oct at 18psi you should be around the 90% IDC. I really cant remember but i think mine was 89% when jeff tuned me at 18psi....

I'm on the stock intake running w/ stock BCS. I'm on the 91 octane map, do you think switching to the 93 map would help get rid of this?
I had no knocking and I actually drove the car down to Miami today and it did great. I didn't really get into boost that much and it was mostly just a cruise. I reset the ECU right before I left and w/ 300 miles the map should be broken in right now. I got the same mileage on the way down, too. I'm wondering if my fuel filter needs to be changed since it is a bit old (30K). The car never seemed to hiccup do anything weird, but I didn't push it at all.

Oh I also tightened the wastegate arm a half a turn and the spiking stopped and the car holds 17 psi steady in all gears.

i would put the 93* map on there, and see what you IDC are....

I'm going to order my own Tactrix (borrowed my friends) along w/ an EGT and AFR so I can keep tabs on my motor. I know I should have done this before I flashed but I got antsy. Until then I'm going to take it easy on the car.
