I'm not gonna lie, I don't really know dick when it comes to this stuff, so I apologize if this is a retarded question...
anyway,
I've got two subs, in two different boxes.
the plan was to put both of them in my 240sx.
They are 125 rms watt JL audio subs.
Would I run them off of one single channel amp? if so, would I treat it like one 250watt sub with a 250 watt( continuous) amp, or how does that work?
Or do I have to get a 2 channel amp w/ 125watts per channel?
At this point, I just want it to hit as if it was one sub.
Unless it is better and just as easy (and cheap) to run them as a left sub and a right sub...

I don't even know if my question makes sense to you guys that know what you're talking about... lol...

thanks for the help...

The model number, I'm not sure...
I think they are the 8 ohm ones..... maybe? 8 ohms just sounds like a lot... I'm used to reading about 4 and 2 and even 1 ohm systems...

I was hoping to avoid taking the boxes apart to find the model number... I'll see what I can find...

They are the 12w1-8
8 ohm.
125watt continuous power

I was able to figure out that I would/could just wire these in as one sub... in parallel...
I guess the next question is, what, if any, would the benefit be to wire them on their own channel?

So your trying to wire those subs individually and then run them off of one channel? You could wire each sub in parallel to drop the ohm load. Then you can bridge them if you have a 2 channel amp.

Yeah, thats what I wasn't sure about. whether or not they could be wired in parallel. I just learned what that was the other day, lol

Now I'm just trying to figure out how powerful of an amp to get. I can't find anything anywhere that says what the peak power for the Subs is. I know they are 125 watt continuous. Do I treat that as a 250 watt continuous, or is it still 125 watt continuous even though there are two of them?
Thats the part I don't quite get yet...

What model were the subs? Are they the W1's?

Don't worry about peak, since they really don't mean much of anything at all.

If those are 8 ohm single voice coil subs you can wire em' down to 4 ohm. You don't need to worry about Peak Power, just RMS. You said they are 125 rms each, so get at least an amp that can do 250-400 watts @ 4 ohm.
