you cant just clearcoat over stuff. even if the paint is in great condition but the clearcoat is peeling or faded, you need to at least feather and maybe strip before anything is applied. Dont let someone just shoot clear over it, it will last like 3 months.

the first part of this is wrong,the second is right.

if u have a mint surface it can be recleared.im speaking from 13 years of exp. i dont kno oldschool and never seen his work, but i have heard good things about him so it wouldnt hurt to give him a try

If your clear is peeling flaking or just shot--you cant just re-clear. It doesnt work that way. Now if you have a good surface and want more clear,theoretically it can be wet sanded and cleared. Keep in mind whatever inperfections there are will be magnified big time.

yeah youre both right lol i apologise. i simply assumed that it was shot or flaked, my bad :) Anyways, yes, on a newer car or a good paint job, thats right. Perfect clear can be re cleared. And i will gladly admit to only 6 years experience!!
