Who should i go to? im looking for a car i can drive daily and once i get one i want to fiberglass a box in the back of my tC. something along the lines of:

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f374/orangesuburban/stereo-1.jpg

right now ive got the system in a 3.5cuft ported box and i would like to get as close to 6cuft ported as possible.

as you can see in the pic, i want one 12" L7 on each side with the amps in the middle, larger amp on the bottom, smaller amp "floating" over it. single slot vent towards the back of the box. im kind of set on wanting the floating amp rack, but i dont really know what i want to do on the subs, as in how i want them pointing... whatever is going to get the loudest, my system is more for sound then show. right now the best ive got is a 151.7db.

i plan on cutting out the rear trim panels and have the box glassed in the car so as to take up as much space as possible. once the box is done it will be in the car forever and the equipment wont be changing.

is $2k a fair price to budget for a shop to make it? would $2k include paint (color matched) or would that be extra?

i had a center console made for my last ride at Stereorama and it was $400 with out paint, so thats what im basing my guess off of...

i would like to do it on my own but i have no idea what im doing when it comes to glass work...

I think $2500 is on the low side for this type of install if you want it glassed and painted to match (I would want to see some other glass work they have done-pics and references). We don't even do this type of work much anymore because the amount of man hours involved-not many people want to spend that kind of money. It just isn't worth the time for the money made anymore for most shops-that is why very few are left still doing it, and they charge a minimum of $5000 to walk through the door. Although, we started experimenting with the expanding foam methods and it seems to cut the time down a bit. Not offering to to the public yet but we may by summertime if everything holds up like it is supposed to.
