i want to know if it would be better to run the stock alt for chargeing the cranking batt and then a 300 amp alt for the system batts? or could i just run 1 300 amp to replace the stock alt? i will be running 6 - 8 deep cell batts in the bed

the stock alt is all you will ever need... even if you hooked up 12 fleamarket subs to 9 walmart amps, I doubt your lights would dim.

im doing 6 or 8 RE SR series 12's and 6 or 8 amps to push them i might just do 2 per amp insted of 1 per amp and do 3 - 4 amps for bass

Run a seperate alt, just for the audio that charges at 17volts. Then you will only need one amp for the all the subs, easier to install and what not.

Why stop at 17? Install a 40volt alternator and then you can just use straight current from the alt to drive all your subs and cut out the middle guy!

Just do 8 sealed 12s with a nice 2,500rms amp.

Paul's idea is the best. Just get a seperate motor just to drive your stereo.

Lets see, how many horsepower equals watts?

conversion please!:
1 horsepower = 745.699872 watts

Now lets do a simple cheap honda engine at 100ish HP

wowzers
74569.9872 watts!
74 kilowatts bitch!

Of course it isn't a direct conversion, as there are losses out the asshole everywhere, but it gives you the basic idea that if you had a dual-motored, completely superpowered car audio setup, you could run about 1000 walmart Lightning Audio subwoofers. You might get up to 148 DB!

I've driven 6 1000.1 JL amps (6000 watts total) on 6 Memphis 15" subs in the bed of a pickup (pass through port) off of two optima gell cells and dual stinger 160 amp alternators with 0 ga wiring throughout. He has 8000k HID headlamps and foglamps, train horns/compressor, nav tv and flip down, etc. System voltage stayed at 12.9 volts under heaviest load at idle and 13.6 volts full load driving average. I highly doubt you would ever need anything more than that for the setup you are referencing. Again, maybe I am missing something?

^^^JL Amps are major current hogs, fuck em lol.
