The 80s. Without question the absolute worst decade in American automotive manufacturing history.

Nevertheless, pretty cool to see those old brochures. I've got some Pontiac mags from those days.

No way it was the 70s, cars kept bigger, the gas crunch kicked in. The early 80s werent much different, but towards the end it picked up.

The 70s through 1974 still had big powerful motors and stylish bodies. Even after that the big cubes stuck around until 1979 so there was still plenty to work with. And most of the bodies pretty much remained the same although got more gaudish. Additionally there were more choices in the 70s - a Pontiac had a Pontiac motor, a Chevy had a Chevy motor, Olds had Olds motors, big blocks, small blocks, Hemis, Clevelands, etc.

Of course none of the old stuff compares to today in any way, shape or form, but there are a lot of classic 70s cars. But 80s? Not so many.

Trans Am High Output 5.0L V-8= "incredible" 190 hp? Man, we've come a long way. "Highway speeds in just 7 seconds!" wasn't that 55mph back then? I'm sure in another 15-20 years we'll look back and laugh at the current model cars.
