Hopefully a few more came out well enough to post. I just got CS3 again so I can actually sharpen them correctly and resize properly.

I don't know if 6 years is worth the opportunity yet, but I hope to be able to say that afterwards ;)

I'll edit and resize one with us tending the basket.

We were doing direct and trail line basket passing. I was on board a 47' MLB. The first few passes the helo made I couldn't get pics of because I was busy working on getting the basket on to the boat safely and then letting them pick it back up.

Heaving around on the trail line to bring the basket on board.

They are very fun to shoot, and when they hover 10 feet above you, it's even more fun.

It's not me, but it's one of the other members at the unit that participated in the training.

In future, on shots like that last one, you may find that the pop up flash will help expose your subject so that it matches the background more closely.

I would have loved to do that, but you can't use flash when taking pictures of CG Helo's. The pilot has to concentrate on where the boat is at and what the basket is doing and the flash has the opportunity to distract the pilot. Thank you for the suggestion though.

LOL. Your pop-up flash isn't strong enough to cause distraction from hundreds of feet away, but I understand.

I have a friend that's an officer for the USCG down in Miami, sounds like an interesting job for sure.

Officers.....psh. Us enlisted folk do it best!

lol just kidding. We have some cool officers up at our Group. They call up and talk to a non-rate like me normally, which I always find odd since we are supposed to salute them and act differently around them compared to normal enlisted.
