It's an exciting time for American open wheel racing. I REALLY hope everything goes well. I can't believe this merger could go into effect this year. I never thought it would happen this fast. It would've been awesome to see Bourdais go against Franchitti and Dixon and the like. Too bad he's gone. But still, I'm looking forward to watching Rahal versus Andretti. There are tons of amazing possibilities.

It's about damn time. Stop this nonsense and unite. Consolidating the series would push "also-rans" like Danica Patrick to the rear of the field if she even makes the cut at all.

I'll believe it when I see it. Moving track dates and reworking TV deals at this late date sounded far too easy. Is it April 1 yet?

More evidence that the merger could happen soon! I know I'm setting myself up for disappointment, but I can't help it.

I'm sure looking forward to the Grand Prix of St. Pete.

The unification is imminent according to Robin Miller. I know there aren't too many IRL / Champ Car fans here, but this is big news for American racing.

Done deal :: IndyCar® Series (http://www.indycar.com/news/story.php?story_id=10557)
I think this is the best racing news in a while. I wonder what Nascar is thinking of this, in the early to mid 90s Cart was Huge. It may take a few seasons but i think they could possibly put a dent into nascar and maybe get some openwheel drivers to come back.

Awesome. Hopefully this combined series will become a force to be reckoned with in American racing and sports. I wonder what all the open-wheel guys who are struggling in NASCAR are thinking about this.

It all depends on the big mamu. The top NASCAR drivers can win 20 million a year without ever winning a race. That's a lot of scratch.
