Ok first of my name is Mike,im not new to cars,I started with Nissans, then converted to Ford, now I am thinking about saving up for a LT1 firebird,(1993-1996) Like I said I am very new to f bodies, and just kind of want some advice. Also if I was to just buy a v6 one would it even be worth finding a full lt1 swap and just replacing the v6 or just saving up and buying a v8 car off the bat? And advice is always welcome, please don't flame to much.
Well if you want an lt1 then go ahead and buy the v8, since they are pretty cheap nowadays. But If you want to go balls out then you should buy a v6 and get a Big Block and spray the piss out of it. You can get motor plates and make it a pretty simple install. Try and look on LS1TECH - Powered by vBulletin (http://www.ls1tech.com) for more info.

The LT1 will be a better platform to start off with then the V6. The V6 won't make good power unless you go FI.

can't go wrong with ls1's, but if you don't have the money for one now, lt1's aren't a bad choice either

I didn't mean trying to make the v6 motor fast,I meant if all I could find was a v6 car, then just buying it and swapping in an Lt1,I didn't know if that route would even be worth it,but then again I could buy a v6 then on the side build a lt1...hmm maybe 383 on the side.

v6 car's aren't much cheaper than an LT1 car honestly
it's not worth the hassle, cost and heartache IMO. just buy a car with the motor you want

i do believe its a different K member if im right?
Plenty of cheap LT1 cars out there. Unfortunate for us LT1 owners, but it is true. $4-5K will get you a nice one.
What are you going to do with it?

Just want to have a fun street car for now, nothing serious, maybe take it to the track a couple times.I don't want to leave it stock, maybe some bolt ons, nothing really crazy.
