After getting my new KW V3s I had S & R Performance perform a four wheel corner balance and a four wheel alignment. OH MY GOD!! How great that is. I drove it after the coilovers installed and before the balancing and what a difference.
The car is on rails now. I recommend this for everyone but have some time because the car is balanced with your weight in it and it takes about 3 hours.
This is a must for autocrossers. I loved the car at Sebring!

The difference between corner-balanced and not corner-balanced in a proper RWD sports car (like an S2000 or a Miata) isn't all that much because the cars are naturally well-balanced. The real difference you're feeling is from the alignment. Alignment is critical. Glad you found someone who could set your car up for you!
We all need another option for good performance alignments... wanna share what they charge for a custom 4-wheel alignment?

The aligment did help but my car was 100lbs heavy on the front right wheel and over that on the left rear wheel. My car is a show car with a lot of extras so it wasn't balanced like stock. Plus with my fat as_ in the drivers seat that made it worse.

Gotcha. Yeah, stuff like that adds up.

I'd like to second the motion for more information about an alternate SKILLED shop who can do this sort of work.
Waiting a month for Cars and Concepts to get a slot open doesn't work all the time.

I still think it would matter once a 200lb driver is sitting in the driver's seat. No?

Oh, it matters, no doubt. But, I don't want young impressionable people to think that they need to rush out and get their car corner-balanced just because they want to autocross. I think of it as a fine-tuning step that's really only going to make a difference to the very experienced driver who is really in tune with his car.

I agree corner balancing is the next step for the autocross experts.

Where is S and R Performance? Was the alignment portion of the bill expensive?

Price depends on what is done. The 350Zs need camber bolts installed and a four wheel alignment.
I'm not sure what just a four wheel alignment cost. Call them to find out.

Fair enough. Most important is to just get out there and drive.

Chuck! How are you man?
You got to drive my car balanced to you. How did it feel?
When I rode with you it felt great. Man I didn't know it could handle so good. I agree that you just need to get instruction to drive your call well and then practice, practice, practice. After that you tweek it to the best you and your car can be. That includes corner balancing. Chuck you believe in what it can do or you wouldn't have put in the 3 hours it took of your time to do it!:D

Oh I didn't know this was your screen name. Yep, the S2000 felt great! Driving it required a completely different style from what I'm used to but man was it fun. I'd love to do it again this year and this time see what kind of lap times we can knock down.
For those who don't know, Jeff (scharged) let me take his S2000 for some Sebring laps a few months ago. We had a few bugs to work out (normal) but it didn't stop us from having a great time.
Are your ready to mortgage your house, sell the kids and pimp the wife to devote your life to road racing now? :)
Good times!

I charge $300 for the corner balance and alignment. Adding suspension parts like camber bolts or 350Z's rear camber prices will change.

The Schargd came from when my S2000 was supercharged. I saw the light and went turbo for a 100plus extra horses.
The laps we had were awesome!!!!
The baby is running great now and ready for fun.
The next event for my car is going to be in the parade lap at the St Pete Honda Grand prix.
After that all is game.

S&R has done quite a bit of alignment/suspension work for me and they always get it dead on. I'll be going in again soon since I can't stop throwing parts at the car.

Gotta own a S2k usually. One of my customers did it the first year it returned a few years ago.. He was contacted by some dealership he bought parts from or the car he gt it from.

Sorry, you have to have a S2000 or a Ridgeline. Thus the Honda Grand Prix Part.:D
It is funny for the first two years of the St. Pete Grand Prix my car was displayed at the Makes and Models booth. Then last year in the Parade lap with Major Baker riding along. Damn he is tall!
This year I am doing the parade lap again. It is a fun event, mainly because the S2ki gang gets an RV and parties for three days.
Next year I know I won't get in.

I think they have been the standard go-to, and their ability's are proven, they just tend to have quite a booked schedule, 3-4 weeks at times. so the competition is a welcome thing In my opinion.
In the grand scheme the difference between a $75 tire shop alignment and a performance shop is worlds apart. I had a lifetime alignment from Firestone but they would keep lying to me and set the car back to stock specs. Like I couldn't tell the difference. and then fight me when I brought it back, just awful.

S and R Only charges $100 for a custom alignment and $300 for alignment with four wheel corner balancing. Proven to improve performance on and off the track. Can't beat their one year old state of the art alignment system.
They even do custom rear camber bolts on the G35s and 350Zs.
Just go check it out.

New high quality alignment equipment is great, but for custom alignments, it means NOTHING without a good tech behind it. Give me an experienced tech who understands performance alignment with a 20-year old *calibrated* rack over the latest greatest technology and some tech who doesn't understand how or why to adjust something outside of the "green" any day!
I know that both of the shops we're talking about have great techs, I'm just sayin'... it's not the equipment that's hard to find, it's the expertise. That's what makes these guys worth more than the average tire shop alignment.

Very true! The best way is to visit the shop, talk to the tech, and check with customers they have worked on.
