Hey guys.. I know this site is dedicated to Honda and acura modifications.. I own one, but one wayward question would not hurt...
This is regarding a Mustang 2005 to 2008 GT vs a 2008 civic si. I know they are apples and oranges but at a catch price of $24,000 (I can get a 2007 mustang gt for that price) which one is best bang for the buck?
Forget about the muscle car thing, just decide for the sheer pleasure and pride of ownership, fun and driving pleasure... which one will you buy?
Pls consider also future modifications because I feel I am inclined to do that. I am not planning to race it on the race track but I want the car to have a character so that I can feel the power from time to time on the streets if the urge comes in.
Has anyone ever experienced driving both? what are your impressions?

This is just my opinion, but i would go for the Honda hands down. There is lots of potential and long term reliabilty plus is already handles and brakes well from the factory.
5 years down the road the Honda will still feel tight and run well plus hold it's value.
I'm not saying don't get a Mustang, but I wouldn't buy one for half the price of the Si.

i love the new gt's. my girlfriend has an auto v6 and i love it..
i bet the gt would be awesome.
but, honda's hold value and are strong cars well into their miles. mine has 130k and still can get down :)

I got different responses from people when it comes to mileage. Let's say I travel about 40 miles a day, would there be a great difference in savings between the mustang gt and honda civic si?
I have an 06 accord v6 right now, they say the civic si is faster.. is there anyone who can attest to that? ( i mean someone who has tried both cars)
thanks

I Would assume the si is faster but haven't driven both. Yes, the gas millage IS going to be very noticeable. 22+ is much better then 15ish.

nvm I know why I said that, he was comparing a v6 accord to the SI, not the mustang gt. I think the si will be faster then the accord, but the GT is faster then both.

Ummmm i would rethink that... The new GT's suck!!!!! they are heavier and almost the same power. Ive got a 00 Si and I beat GT's all day long.... Im sorry go with the Si.... Better bang for dollar..... Better gas mileage, wont have problems, and will hold value WAY better than a GT.....
if ur going to mod the car: my opinion go with the car that has the bigger motor ( gt-v8 ), i have somewhat a fast 4 cyl car and the next time i build a car/mod a car it will be a v8.

Not sure on mpg for the new gt's but my old stang was knocking down 20mpg around town. And I will be getting a stang again as soon as possible, just keep your honda and have fun with the stang on weekends.

Get the Si, you'll thank your self later for buying it. I'm not being biased by any means, by owning a Honda or anything. I love Mustangs as well.

honestly i am a honda guy and i wouldnt buy either one of these if i bought a brand new car. I would buy the new vw gti then honda si and i would never buy a ford! i would buy a chevy but not a ford. overall the honda is probably the best way to go cuz its quick and its good on gas and will hold it value alot better then the ford! the ford is faster new but the honda is also like 5 or 6gs cheaper and with the honda it has a better suspension better braking and better all the way around but like i said i like the new gtis. 1)GTI 2) SI 10823739) MUSTANG GT <---LOL:lol: but just my.02!

i had 2 s197 (05+) gt's and the new mustangs suck for one reason in particular... The brake systems.. my last one was wrecked becuase the brakes gave out. They are way underpowered for the weight/size of the newer mustangs. Other than that, I loved mine and averaged 19-20mpg around the city. although on the other hand I love my turbo teg and the fact that people dont expect whats under the hood :).. do what you feel will make you happier
