Thanks

expect an all wheel drive car that with little modification will probably be faster than any teg you may have owned. Thy are extremely reliable(when you take care of it), and get pretty decent gas mileage. The other plus is that you can make the car your own, as there are millions of aftermarket parts for these now. Just make sure you get the car checked out before you buy it, especially the tranny. The only down fall is these cars have week gears(easily fixed) and can get ragged on by bad drivers. Hope this helps a little, and good luck in your wrx ventures.

if you plan on modding it I would seriously look into an STI. If the tranny goes out on the wrx you are looking at a minimum of $5k + rebuild time for one that is suited for the car.

u can get a decent amount of power out of the WRX without having any problems w ur tranny. ive seen em pushing 320whp w the stock tranny. its all in how u drive it. plus getting a wrx instead of the STi lets u save some money just incase u wanna beef up the tranny.

I've been doing some research and that is exactly what everyone else says so that comforts me haha, but I don't really plan on modding besides maybe an aftermarket blow off valve, bigger brakes, suspension, and rims buts that it. Thanks again for your replies

in that case you'll have a long life with her...head gasket and turbo usually need changing around 100-120k miles...other then that. its a pretty easy car to own, all you have to do is change the oil and do basic maintenance

if you dont really plan on adding big power then a wrx will be fine. dont know why you would need bigger brakes, but thats your call.

I didn't really mean bigger, I just meant upgraded, like stop-tech or baer slotted rotors and hawk pads or something like that.

ditto...if its just going to be a daily driver...a turbo back exhaust, uppipe, reflash, a rear swaybar and better pads(DBA rotors possibly) would be the only things needed to enhance every aspect of the car...
better top end power, better spool up, better fuel economy (so long as you don't go romping all the time), better handling and better braking.
Tires will always add in every aspect of acceleration too (acceleration, braking and turning).
they are also very safe cars too. Crash tested extremely well and have one hell of a b-pillar!!

and springs of course to help reduce roll and make the car look better overall
i think if you arent planning on dedicating big money to power or retarted suspension on a street car like most people you should do an APR widebody. they look sick.

That is exactly what I was thinking about doing, nothin to harsh and expensive, and that wide body kit looks good too, but the wing imo kills it idk

If the turbo does start to go, I'd say throw in a P&P stocker and you will love how quick it spools. With just a TBE, up, CAI and P&P TD-04 I have full boost at 2500 rpms, untuned. It's a great street turbo and the spool can't be beat.

yeah u can still do some very decent mods even if its a daily driver. mine is a daily driver too and i got all the basics and plus the turbo upgrade, and its a very beasty daily driver, lol. ull love it

Don't get a blow off valve. Get a short ram intake and u can hear the sound.

yes, I did forget springs and struts (trust me get the nicer struts with them) and down the road you can slap on a used vf39 or vf43 for a nice cheap performance upgrade for when the stock TD04's power gets old.

a short ram is just as bad on the cars performance as a bov... the stock intake keeps intake temps much lower. CAI if your going to do an intake.

yep no to short ram. you can still hear it with a cai. cai and a turbo inlet will help as well.

K&N short ram intake works well with stock ecu. CAI's work worse.

ok so I found a 04 wrx for 16,5 with 38,000 miles on it, and it looks to be in great shape, what kind of questions should I ask him besides the obvious?

have fun taking in 120+ degrees in intake heat.... thats what you want for a turbo car? dont buy a shirt ram theyre the worst mod you can buy

yeah that's no good, i never believed in short ram's anyways, waste of money imo, only good for driving in the rain, even then a bypass valve would still be better.

I actually have the short ram and was tuned by scott. You can ask him for advice. CAI's do not work well with the stock ecu. Short rams do. You can do the math of a stock sti vs a stock sti with K&N sr intake. Don't just copy what people say in forums. If you have had actual experience with a SR and have something bad to say then say it.

I am running a SR k&n And i hate it! Like kyle was saying it is pretty bad with heat soak. Jeff clocked my intake temp 120+

i also have he k&n short ram. i have had no problems or decrease in performance since installing it a year ago. by the time that air hits your throttle body it's already at 120 degrees with the stock airbox..

short rams are only good if they come with a heat shield...

well, we went from helping a guy buy a subie to arguing about cai and sri...
when you check out the car make sure the car shifts through the gears without problems and make sure the clutch is firm with no slippage. check for the service engine light. the tranny and clutch are the main things that cause problems in our cars .
the less modified the car is the more durable it will be.. look for aftermarket intake, exhaust, etc.

going back to sri and cai..i have an injen cai with no problems...oh yeah, g/l with the buy
