I've had my 02 WRX for almost two years and am going to start modding it.....Right now i have an up-pipe,bell mouth down-pipe,full exhaust.GFB blow-off, and a VF39 on the car. To compliment this I am figuring on A SRI,STI pinks,STI top mount, and a upgraded fuel pump. The car has 73000 miles and I average 10,000 miles a year.Any suggestions on tuning or changes I should make would be appreciated.

how are you running a vf39 without different injectors and fuel pump? also without a tune? the car must run like shit

To someone tuning the car they would probably say it runs like ass but for a daily driver to and from work it runs fine.I've been driving it for 2 years and recently put the VF on and it actually feels smoother at idle.

if the ecutek is tuned for *exactly* what you are going to have then i would buy it. if not, get a custom tune like snowman. He has been very busy lately, however.

the factory ecu actually handles it quite well...runs out of fuel at about 11 psi though...I got bored and did an experiment...also made a flat 180 lb-ft tq curve from 3200-7200 rpm and peaked at 218 hp, this was on a mustang (stock 05 sti is roughly 210hp).
The A/F's sit around 11.2-11.5:1 (dual LM-1's monitoring) and EGT's never went above 820*C...no knock counts either. Still had a few fat spots and timing was conservative from the data logs. The ECU does save itself using timing.
Injectors, FMIC,Tial 38mm EWG and a tune would suit the set up well for a nice small budget set up.
Beyond that I will turn to built engines and rotated turbos ;)

It doesn't matter it's still stupid to just slap parts on and drive your car. Of course you think it runs well you came from driving hondas. And by the looks of it yours probably had some crappy ebay parts too.

^^^^What are you talking about????I drive the car 4 miles a day and don't go over 3k rpm I'm not hurting anything and what makes you think i used ebay parts?Whats wrong with coming from a honda,I'm pretty sure every subaru owner hasn't always driven a subaru.
****Is there a reason why people like you rag on people when they are simply asking for constructive advice?Whats the point of sites like this if you can't simply go to it for help?

ive always driven a subaru :D
as far as your setup and people flaming you its because there is no point right now. your setup isnt neccessarily dangerous, but it is more stressful than stock. and right now with no injectors, fuel pump, or tune, you are really not seeing any power gain from upgrading turbos.

I had a free weekend so I put the VF39 on and the rest is soon to come, then when i'm ready to get it tuned i'll put the rest on.

well, I've always owned a subaru, among other cars too though....I still say get the supporting mods I listed...the EWG setup is just to help keep the top end tq curve from tapering off and isn't needed.
Water injection will also help kick in the low end torque too if you are an auto-xer

The car if fine to drive around town.
This is an 02 Subaru did not give them close loop delays. From the factory the cars are tuned conservative. The afrs are pig rich and timing is not aggressive.
Since he is on the stock intake the maf is calabrated so even if the turbo is different the afrs will be within an acceptable margin as long as the boost is keep low.
This guy is not pushing the car he is just daily driving it.
to see the fruits of your mods it would be good to get a bigger intercooler, injectors, and tune (which it seems you Know) your tuner may also suggest a gm boost controller.
I would suggest Snowmann or SS (if you want Ecutek) for tuning. They both can be hard to get a hold of though.
Cold Air intake and NO TUNE BAD! :(
Venting you BOV to the atmosphere BAD! :(
Meth Injection something i need too GOOD! :D

hey was that you in the blue wrx driving with me down the interstate and then hillsborough ave? I was in the black wingless wrx.
either way I would get a sti tmic or a fmic, injectors, fuel pump, cold air, and a snowman tune. then before you do anything else you will have to start thinking about your drivetrain....like I did. Stock tranny will not hold to well inbetween shifts, but with the above mods and a conservative driver you should be fine. Just make sure when you do the mods that you get it tuned the same day you finish the mods..or stay out of boost till you get tuned..that way you don't run the risk of damaging anything.
good luck and let me know if you have any questions, since many people on here don't want to give advice.
