my buddy paul (silviaspeed) was telling me about this, he had a whole bunch of links. Had the software on his PC jsut not in his car. You can get SatNav and play your music thru WMP. Twisted Pixel is awsome to watch react to the music as well. If i hear from him today ill ask for ya.

1. you can buy custom software and a custom reader

2. Write software to read binary from your COM port

3. Build a reader custom made for your car

4. Fake it like the Pioneer N2 using built in sensors to guess.

if your talking about building a carpc such as this

using a laptop or standard pc components are not what you should use. Toby sells the parts or you can buy a kit online.

here are some sites that sell the stuff you need
Mp3Car Custom Car Computers! (http://store.mp3car.com/)
Custom Carputers (http://www.customcarputers.com/) (they sell the scan tool's and such)

if your just setting up a lap top or something so you can take readings from your car, never mind then

heres a past thread about incarpc's your getting into more than you think but its worth it when its all done.
