Hey everybody I went on a trip to Las Vegas and lent my bimmer to my father for the week, I get back and jump in the car, press the clutch and it's super stiff and has a much shorter pedal travel. I push the clutch to the floor and go to shift into reverse and it grinds, so obviously the clutch isn't doing it's job. Anyone have any suggestions? I think it's just burnt out, but before I spend 2g's (or more) on having it replaced I'd like to hear other opinions.

Check the fluid to verify the system is not leaking. Also check the slave, it might need to be replaced.

Thanks bud, will do. Where is the clutch fluid reservoir located? I figured it would be by the brake booster under the drivers side a/c filter, but I saw no clutch reservoir.

I forget on 540's but some euro cars draw the clutch fluid directly from the brake mater cylinder resevoir.

From what I can see from the manual your correct that it comes striaght from the brake master cylinder but then again he never said what year it is.

But I had a problem like this in an Accord I had in my shop one time. I could of sworn to god the clutch was shot. We decided the replace the slave cylinder first and it fixed it and never came back. So I would look there.

Thanks guys! Sorry I haven't checked up on this thread. The clutch is infact "fried" and is currently being replaced along with the flywheel. I do appreciate everyone taking their time to answer my question.
