Ok my dad has a 2001 Chrysler Sebring LX Convertible with a 2.7 V6 and yes i have read that the 2.7 was the worst motor chrysler ever made and that why they dont warranty it, because its known to seize up without warning at about 70k miles. but the other day he was driving on 75 and all of a sudden he saw that the temperature shot straight up all of sudden. so then he pulled off at a nearby exit quickly and to a nearby parking lot. and just as he was entering a parking lot he heard a bang!!... then coolant was everywhere... so then we checked the coolant no oil in the coolant... and it starts up just fine... it looks like some kind of sensor on top of the motor... can anybody tell me whats wrong?

I'm sure it's the coolant tube and housing. I hear they are a bitch to change too. #3 in the pic. It doesn't show the tube that is attached that everyone who changes one complains about.

I found a site that has a R&R walkthrough

Oh snap I didn't see that it was a Sebring. Thats even easier to change, no tube involved

91Notch,
are they simple to change? and why did that happen all of a sudden?

Honestly why it happened, yet another poor Chrysler design. But if it doesnt have the tube running under the intake manifold its not that bad of a job. But if it does have the tube going to the back of the motor its a pain in the ass fo shure.
