The Self Portrait Thread: PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE POSTING!

I saw a thread similar to these elsewhere and thought it would be a fun idea to try.

Rules:
One picture per day, please keep it at or under 700px wide. If you need help resizing, just ask.

Picture must be taken by YOU, and must be of YOU. This is a self portrait, make sure you're the main subject of the picture.
Don't post multiple pictures from the same set. Post the best one!
Forum rules obviously apply: No bashing, No Flaming, etc.
Don't post cellphone pics. The idea behind this is that you will actually spend a little bit of time setting up a shot rather than just snapping a picture with your camera phone.
There are no rules as far as editing. Do what you will, do what you want... just try to keep yourself recognizable.
Please don't post pics of other people/animals/whatever and say they're you. It may be funny, but it only causes the thread to go off topic.
If your pics don't comply with the rules they may be deleted w/o warning.If you have any questions or any ideas to improve the rules/thread, PM me!

Very nice DD.

It's too small to tell exactly where your focus is, but I find it best to focus on the eyes when you have such limited DOF. My camera always wants for focus on the nose (closest part).

How are you liking the 1.8?

It doesn't half-press. The shutter release is infrared, so it's like the remote in that you either click the shutter or you don't. There's no focusing before you take the shot, etc.

Yeah DD, had the AB's out. Just one light for this setup, it was taken about 30 minutes before sunset. Almost lost the light when the wind came and caught the umbrella when it was 10ft up. Luckily it just bent the umbrella.

Oh yeah, I have an SB-600 and a wireless slave for that too.. and an umbrella bracket so I can put it on my light stands. With my D200 I can fire it manual, and it will meter through the lens... pretty cool stuff. Nowhere near as powerful as the Alien Bees though.

Yes, but the SB's figure out their own exposure and they're a lot more portable. The AB's are a pain to set up. The other thing to think about - you can buy Vivitar 285's for $90 ea. For $300 you could have a setup similar to my AB setup with less power.

A lot of guys don't ever upgrade from that point, you can do a lot with it.
