I had a customer today, who suddenly lost FM. AM still works, as does everything else. Checked the antenna and connections, all were fine. Put in a new unit, and all is well. Basically, it just wouldn't tune FM...seek just kept running the dial, and if you manually set a system, it just wouldn't come in.

This is the first time I've seen this, in over 20 years of car audio.

Just curious if anyone else has seen this.

Never seen much less heard of the problem.

What kind of unit was being used?

Thats how my car is. With the aftermarket HU I didnt get any FM reception, then when I put the stock HU back in i barely get most stations.

I bet half these problems are stock signal amplifiers that aren't getting power because the after market harness isn't properly connected.

Well, this one is a Jensen headunit, and everything is hooked up properly.

We put it in last week (I don't normally put stuff in that I didn't sell, but this was a good customer), and it worked until yesterday, when the FM just quit. Dropped in a new JVC unit, using the same harness, hookup, and antenna / adapter, and all is well again.

Never seen that one either. Seen some units tune better than others (our display board-prime example), but never FM inop completely. Interesting...
