I don't wanna hear about "oh my boss amp is 5000 watts, but it's only 300RMS"..

I wanna hear about your Sundowns,Hifonics,Earthquakes,US Amps..etc etc etc.

I'm currently using a 1500.1 Hifonics Titan @ 1ohm for break in purposes,After a week or so planning on going to a 5000PEAK/3000-3200RMS "something",Still have to do some searching for my best bet..Which is why I created this thread.

Share your experiences. :-)

im running an old school rf bd1000.1 its only about i foot by 1 foot and puts out some awsome power in a small package. come to think of it i dont remember it even getting really hot either. even after full volume for over an hour. i dont think i will ever sell it. i actually want to get another one or a bd1500.1.

i know its prob not as high quality as those listed and i was kinda weird about it at first but im happy with it.

my JL 1000/1 doesnt ever get hot really, one time i was at the beach and i had the trunk open and felt it and it was warm but it was because of the sun, but its only pushing one 13W7, nothing fancy or record breaking

Nothing fancy? :-P

I "hear" the 1000/1 is under rated,bad...Never really heard nothing bad about the newer JL amps.

Love em. Definately troopers. I had the SAZ-1500Ds strapped at .7 per pair, so thats .35ohms per amp and they never shut off or gave me any problems even after beating the crap out of them in the middle of summer at shows.

The JL is a fully regulated amp...meaning, it pretty much puts out 1000 watts from 4 to 1.5 ohms, and from 11 to 16 volts. Probably part of why its so big. I'd be very surprised if you could get too much more than 1000 watts out of it.

I'm a big fan of the Sundown amps. They are very well built, and imo, a very good amp for the money. I've heard people say that they are too big, but when you see how stuffed full they are, you wonder how you could get that kind of power in less space...or wait, maybe other amps don't really put out their rated power...could it be? :-)

I've personally seen over 90 volts out of my SAZ-3000D. 3000 watts at 1 ohm is about 55 V. Granted, it might not be as clean up there, and with an actual load, it might not get to 90, but I think it makes a statement as to the power supply.

The JL 1000/1 is a pretty sick amp. These things are workhorses. And although I have never been a fan of JL products due to their price (and consequently the way they almost forcefully "franchise" their dealers), that 1000/1 is a real trooper. I have installed/moved many of them from car to car, system to system over years of beatings. They are big and heavy, but they definately produce. I don't think I have ever seen one blow either. But, as stated, there are quite a few other manufacturers that are arguably equivalent and for much less $$$'s...

Personally, we have been using US Amps XT1600.2 amp more and more not only due to it's somewhat smaller size, but it's ability to run dual 1 ohm loads without clipping or overheating. I have quite a few of them out there that are past their one year mark and I have yet to warranty one out or have a failure of any sort. Not bad for a sub amp under $200. We probably move more of these amps with two Kicker CVR12's in sealed boxes as our special sub package than any other product!

However, I must say that I still love seeing one of those old 90's little Rockford Fosgate amps that trickle in once in a while. Back when an amp as small as a Bible could drive two 12's and absolutely slam-ahh, the good old days...

Dual 1 ohm loads? I know that XT can't handle .5 ohm load.

No, I am sure it can't. But, it can handle one Kicker Comp CVR 12" w/ dual 2 ohm voice coils wired in Parallel on each channel-IE: amp NOT bridged (one ohm per channel load, not .5 ohms per channel-never had a reason to attempt that).

Anymore though, we just stock the 4 ohm DVC Kickers and run them in parallel, one speaker per channel, basically a 2 ohm load per channel. Installer just pulls amps, speakers, boxes out of the stock order and sets them up 2-3 at a time-amp on box, speakers pre-wired, installed in under an hour-tried in true and hassle free. It has just become that popular of a package (have the local high school clientele nearby-peer pressure is wonderful)!

I wouldnt try .5ohm with an amp like that. Just not worth it.

 Definitely not going that low.

Plan for now is just 2 ohms.

I was running a 1 ohm load on the Hifonics,and it's pulling to much current..So until I get my batterie(s) in there,it's stay 2-4 ohms. :-)
