or

4 Mmats P3.0?

will be powered by 2 vr1000 for now.

best daily spl is you getting only one or two of either one of those woofers.

4 is overkill.

But honestly I've never been a mmats fan and everyone seems to like Fi SSDs. I only THINK i've heard them once.

My opinion is worth government cheese.

for a pair of VR1000D's, I'd say neither...both of these drivers have rms ratings of around 800 each. So, I'd like to see at least 1000 watts each, 1200 would be better.

I've sold quite a few 1000d's, and they work really well with Crossfire BMF's, which are 350rms / 700 max. I'd look for something in that power range to go with the pair of VR's.

Now, if you plan on going to the 3k-4k watt range down the road, then either the Mmats or the SSD's will work. I have not used either, so I can't get more specific.

If loud and reliable is your goal, and you're set on 4 12's, I'd say get 4 good quality, 350-500 rms 12's and put them on your 2 VR1000d's. Get someone to design you a big ported box, with somewhere around 50-75 sq in. of port, and you'll be good for mid to high 140's.

i would recoment some soundstream picasso woofers. i have 2 15's in the explorer and i am pushing them with about 2400 watts, i am in the mid 140's and i agree that a nice big ported box you will sound a wole lot better.

Funny, I forgot just how banging the old MMats were. I had an old customer of mine come by today that we had installed two MMats 15" subs running off of a single JL Audio 1000/1-that slammed before he went to college a year ago. He came back with now another 1000/1 amp (two thousand watts now running just two 15" MMats). Upgraded to a red top optima. Even with the engine RPM's up, system dropped to 9.7 volts under medium load-cut all electronics off. Added second Optima red top in the bed (Sierra pickup), 0 guage wiring to tie them together. Cranked it up at 2000 RPM and the first drop on Jeezy's second track of the CD-blew the rear view mirror and button clean off the windsheild (broke the windsheild)! Just got a call about an hour ago-his back window shattered -dual layers of 5% tint are the only thing holding it together. THATS loud... (Now he wants to know how we are going to hold the new back glass together when it gets replaced Monday-this ought to be good....) Moral-if you just want ungodly, unbearably loud bass, two MMats 15's and 2K watts can definately hang.

answer: skip glass put in lexan then you only have to worry about blowing it out not breaking it

Good answer, however no glass companies that we deal with want to deal with custom cutting lexan much less installing it. Has to be completely "glued" in. Thinking about ordering a sliding glass instead of fixed to allow some air to flow through-maybe less brittle...

would a sliding glass window have more rattle room and maybe break due to that not the presure on it. or probaly have more week points and break easier than a solid window?

Good point, however I don't ever remember seeing a back sliding glass blow out of a pickup. Seen a few of the fixed ones pop over the years though. Anyone else had experience with a sliding back glass blow out? I am going to have to come up with a decent solution by the middle of the week.

I would love to take credit for this ridiculously loud design but this kid just keeps coming up with equipment to install-many stages over two years. We just did the labor mostly. I really don't even know what he likes so much about that much bass. It really is over the top. I have had a couple of emails about it so I'll post the pics of his amps/subs, broken windshield, and rear window before the glass guys gut it Thursday- I am sure I am not the only shop that experienced this in the past. I guess it sounds cool to some but it really is just a PITA for a shop...

BTW, decided to order sliding glass this time-two layers of 5% tint again though "just in case"... No warranty from glass company though-go figure. I'll update later if it survives or not.

good deal

if that doesnt work out i'll ask if my buddy that does lexan for race cars if he can do a rear window for a truck that would go in like the factory window.

with the sundown saz1500 would the fi need to be dual 1 or dual 2 ?
and would the FlatwindCoil be a good thing to add?

2 Sundowns Strapped @ 2 ohm for 4 subs? You would need Dual 1s
