Default The Story of the Piston that got away

When your having a bad day, Remember the poor owner of this ..

This was a car that came in for a "Over heating " problem. The car was borrowed by a friends for a nice easy drive around. The friends brought it back and said it seems to be over heating, Thinks it's the gasket.

We could tell it was more than "Overheated" but lets pull it apart anyway.

We first take the valve cover off...
This doesn't look good, Retainers are supossed to be in one piece.....

Take the head off.....

The head shouldn't look like this either, This thing must have got super hot.......The gasket is blown..

There's is something not quite right here either, This looks more than over heated..Could the friend be holding out on the truth....No ?

Ok,,,That's why it ran so bad, there's only 3 pistons. The other must of over heated and turned to mini pistons and exited through the header.(If you can't take the heat, get out of the cylinder)

Be careful who drives your cars folks..Even friends can lie about how they drive .

Wow, is that a b18c5 ?
That motor is trashed

Gotta love people that can't drive.

I have seen stock itr retainers fail several times.
It is hard to judge if the cause was a mechanical failure or shitty driving. Onboard datalogging ftw!
