All you DSM runners... how much boost and what et/mph are you getting in the 1/4. how much extra fuel are you using to get big boost...(injector size and fuel pressure).. Ill give you a comparison My GLHS 18 lbs boost +20%(42 lb/hr stock is 33lb) injectors at stock 55psi fuel pressure...gives me 9-10 lights on a cyberdyne a/f gauge.

anyone running NOS... Id like some idea of what a 50 shot will do for a turbo running higher boost. how much improvement did you see in your 1/4 times and mph

13.0 @ 106.55 mph.
22 lbs boost on factory 14b turbo.
550cc injectors as opposed to 450cc stock.... but I am using my Apex S-AFC to lean them out more than the stock ones would be.

Lean scares me... Id rather have a full 10 lights on the a/f gauge and pour in more boost than try to max hp at a lower boost setting... pistons are supposed to go into holes not have them (lol) ;) btw... great times for the car. I love watching DSMs porpoise leaving on a good launch :D

20 pounds...same inj as 94TSIAWD and AFC to lean things back out. Upgraded fuel pump.
108MPH.

Too lean is bad...dont ask how I know. Some leaning out is good for it though. I try to run about .92 on pump 18 psi street. Maybe .90 on race gas 20 pounds at the track. The 1G DSMs can run leaner due to the lower compresion pistons in them. They have 7.8:1 I have 8.5:1 I think. It all depends on the car. I seriously doubt you are getting even the full potential out of the car running piss rich like that though. The trick I guess is to lean out to just before the car starts detonating and back off a bit from there. Do the GLHs have knock sensors built into them? Do they pull timing when they sense excessive knock in the engine? Ours do so thats an easy way to know when your running too lean. The car will fall on its face from the lack of timing advance. I was always curious about GLHs. Its an awesome sleeper.

Im running 20psi too. I have the Super AFC too to lean things out on the bottom end and race fuel. Buy a EGT to tell how hot things are getting (This is one of the best tool for tuning). My A/F is .92 - .94 with 550cc inj. and bigger fuel pump. My bigger fuel pressure regulator with gauge will be hooked up soon so I cant tell what the pressure under the fuel rail is.

You are right... I doubt I am getting the full potential... but the motor lives to tell about it... I always mix 110 and 93 equal for racing. to boot... running just a 3 downpipe and no fuel smell.. the logic module does a pretty good job of pulling back the fuel... but it is open loop at WOT

Yes The Dodge Turbos do have the knock sensor and do retard timing...but too many have relied on it and wound up holed. what is the APEXI fuel controller...

As for EGT.. I agree I need one. those that have them look for 1400-1500 temps.. I have only just started playing with my GLHS... lots of time to add the goodies and get serious

The 87 GLHS is a charger. these are different from GLHs.. Larry has a GLH (omni)turbo...hell unleash it on you all soon. they can be had for under 1500 and with minimum investment can be made to hit 12s. A buddy of mine bought one for 800... built it and for less than 4k is running 12.6 at 107.12

Glhs are so cool....btw the apexi super afc is a a computer fuel contorler the links up betweent he computer and all the fuel stuff(i.e. maf o2 and injectors ect ) and allows you to control the fuel very accuratly i belive it goes by rpm in 500 incraments rich or lean and has a bunch of other cool features too. kind of pricey but well worth it in the tuning control you gain from it.

thanks for the APEX info... larrys in town tonight... Ill ask him if our cars can handle one... Racing tomorrow night... got rid of the 3.85 final drive.. new 3.5 final drive in (I was out of gearing at the traps 1000 rmp over the motor sweet spot)... shooting for 20 lbs boost on a fresher motor.. still 100% stock motor and head set-up...looking for 107+ and a 12.xx

The Apexi S-AFC is a great tool. Richen or lean the mixture at 8 adjustable RPM points under adjustable Hi or Lo throttle positions. You cant be scared of lean. With the proper gauges you can monitor what is really happening inside your motor and tune your Air/Fuel ratio for lots more SAFE power. If I didnt lean my car out it would be so rich it would load up and stall. I have even felt timing get pulled because of a rich mixture. I richened it up to fix the problem and it got worse. Leaned it out and it went away. Pay attention to what you are doing with proper engine monitoring and youll be fine and fast.

This explination is void when I get my 20g...

:D
