:-owell i need to know who's up to the task. Would like to start a 5.50 or 6.50 heads up class, quick 8 for now. Post a response if interested and we'll see what we can do. I think it would be a real crowd pleaser. Just trying something new.

Why not go with something in between say 6.0. I think that you would be able to get a field of cars in that range a lot easier than 5.50. I know that the faster the cars the more exciting to the spectators but you got to go with what's available now and maybe it'll work it's way there eventually as more cars show up. Just my 2 cents. You da BOSS! :)

the 6:50 heads up class does well at the other tracks and there seems to be a great many cars for it. i think that would be the way to go but the cars have to be stock suspension. earlier this yeay at lmp they did a index race the classes were 5:50, 6:50, 7:50 and 8:50. if i am not wrong they did it like 2 or 3 weeks and it never did well. but give it a try.

First off let me excuse my self to you, i didn't realize you were an adult and a member of the racing community.
Me being a 30 year old adult, i grew up in FWD cars and the import / Domestic seen
Honestly over the years import / domestic 4-6 cylinder drag racing is a dieing out.
And you cant tell me this isn't the truth when their are only 3 cars running Pro- RWD and and the top two are from the same race company and leaving NHRA / Nopi and running Outlaw Domestic events.
And as far as you wanting a 5.50 / 6.50 event at your track, other then the rotaries, their are very few imports running those times
I honetly havent been to lakeland in probly 3-4 years.....So im not gong to make a comment about your Track over what i read on the internet, best of luck to you.

So your telling me they are going back to NHRA / Nopi
instead of running with the 10.5 guys.....
My personal opinion bad decision, people that have their car worked on a Titian not not your typical ricer, their 21-35 ish range, Spending hard earned money on high dollar street / drag cars
so by going outlaw racing their not going to lose their fan base.
Just my two cents

Sir no disrespect like i said before, but other then a rotary their is no car other then a 10.5 going 4.80s at lmp
4.80s on stock suspension / drag radial is ORSCA type cars
Import2873
11-12-2007, 11:21 PM
ok u are right not on stock suspension not 4.80 but we do have cars running 5.80 and 6.00 on stock. full body and not on radial but who knows? and we do have rail runing 4.70 if you have the time come out thu or sat gates open at 5:00 $10 to get in $5 to run on thu and $10 at gate on sat whit $25 tech card to run for the money

there are several cars at lmp running in the 5's. but the trouble is that there just is not the room to stop at lmp. at sunshine, bmp and orlando we have all the room in the world to slow down and stop but at lmp not enough so most of the heavy faster cars either 1/2 track and shut down or toss the laundry.
Sounds like a great idea. The 5.50 index is nice it gives all the 8.50(1/4 mile) certified cars a place and format to race. This series has really taken off at several tracks running it once a month, ditto with the 6.50 class. If they run two weeks after sunshine it would give a nice balance between the tracks.
here is a link to Atco that packs the stands on index night
HEADS UP 8.50 INDEX RULES (http://www.atcorace.com/artman/publish/article_780.php)
here is a forum board for index racers;
goDragRacing.com :: View Forum - 8.50, 10.0, 12.0 Index Class Racing & Pro Dial Dash (http://forums.godragracing.com/viewforum.php?f=25)
Could actually run a points program and tie the tracks and sponsers together. As far as the shutdown area at Lakeland for heavy cars it is not an issue, They are plenty of fast and fat that have used the track in the past without issues. Door cars that look like street cars puts people/consumers in the stands, food sales at the vendors and sponsers/money on the boards, period. As long as the operators fill their end of the deal and stay on target it will work. Wont happen overnight.
Thanks for the forum

If you don't have good brakes you may have a hard time stopping at LMP or anywhere else for that matter. I have seen a lot of 5 and 4 second cars run at LMP and all stopped with no problems. There's a full 1/8 mile of shut down track at LMP. You just have to pay attention and brake when you cross the finish line. If you don't, you may have some dirt in your teeth!:-o

That was my point!:D My car is not that fast (6.60's on the old motor) and I could always stop it way before the first turn off. I hope to run much better than that with my new motor (low 6's to high 5's on the motor) but I'm sure I'll be able to stop safely at LMP. :cool:
There is probally one more index which could be included that would be a 7.50 (give or take)index which would would allow the cars right at the 11.50 window a forum to race as close as you can to heads-up. This would permit the folks that dont want to put the roll bar and extra safety equipment in their cars a format also.
Any chance we are gonna move on this?? How about once a month, say second saturday, ALL INDEX. 5.50, 6.50, 7.50 or whatever, the Sunshine series normally runs the first sat of the month.
thanks

if you want the crowds and participants, 7.0 is probably where its going to be. 6.50 wont give you as many participants but would still be a crowd pleaser imo.
