can u all finish it now? :( Can Chris wetsand it now?

i just want to drive it, whaaaaaah.

I need to get a stock SR ecu to scott so he can rom tune it, i dont wanna do the megasquirt anymore. also need that z32 maf, ignitor and an SR20 harness and get it running.

i sent over a list of what it needs. steve baker is gonna come check out the car for the wiring unless someone there they can do it perfectly, but id probably rather have steve do it.

it seriously has like 2-4 days max worth of work that needs to be done to it.

need to get interior for it, any ideas?

also, i need to get my shitbox accord that sitting there sold, any ideas?

carbon fiber plating between the radiator and core support, carbon fiber fitted where the stock tach/speedo goes on the refinished dash, defi tach installed and AEM wideband, still need to purchase

rest of the shit i dont know whats been done by sean, so i guess it all needs to be checked
- finish seat mounting sean started
- mount and setup CNC hydrolic e brake, in front of the shifter, pull style
-Dash air vents on the mint dash pieces sanded and painted duplicolor chrome (or some variant)
-Dash harness to make everything work, from turn signals to windshield wipers.
-Engine harness working
-turbo feed and return lines, flange and seal for return are there, you use the judgement on going AN or rubber return.
-Catch can mounted, lines finished
- 7/8ths 280zx brake master cylinder, dual tube style (late model) brand new. They come as for power brakes, in a zip lock bag is what is needed to convert it (plunger, clip, boot, etc) to a manual brake, i know the master is in there, dunno if the plunger is in yet
-any finished welding on the floor pans
-lower harness
-battery relocation kit ran
-right rear trailing arm shock mount threads are fucked up. Threads need to be retapped.
- you will see that the trailing arm mounting points are slotted, the vertical ones are for camber adjustment, pry bar them all the way down and impact them on. Horizontal are the toe adjustment, try to eyeball the center and then tighten. Check to make sure the tires don’t rub the inner fenders, I believe they rub A LITTLE, shave the inners if need be. Reapply 3M undercoating spray where ground.
- vent tube for gas tank.
- when powering the fuel pump, check everything for leaks
-when running the motor check everything for leaks, new front and rear main seals
- fluids, water wetter for radiator, motul brake fluid (mastro Subaru), diff fluid, qt of shock proof for trans and whatever goes accordingly, ensure the KN filter for the engine I got is correct, 20w50 of whatever non synthetic but good fluid
-the 2 vacuum lines going in the drivers side is for the AVCR boost solenoid, should have push locks for them, if not, the local hydrolic place there has the eaton fittings.
- the vacuum line coming from the intake manifold is for the ECU and AVCR boost solenoid. Figure a correct way to T the push lock lines into those normal rubber lines, there is a extra push lock T in the car.
-The water temp defi mounted in the small hole in the middle of the guage cluster area, the temp sensor is in my coolant bypass neck.
- Need new rear brake T block and new lines for the rear in stainless.
-Front brake lines, there is the little joint on the old lines in the box that C clips to the body, re make new stainless front lines
wire the car for a dimmer, power, ground, tach and speedo wires for when I put the autometer digital gauges.
- Wire AVCR for speed and rpm
- Gas tank vent tube
- nice coolant overflow tank
-im unsure what bulbs in the car are good or not
-install new dash cover and refinished dash parts

Are you calling? I never really get an answer here either, I do when I call though. It's too easy to read this and while searching for the answer, get sidetracked and never make it back out to the computer. It helps to get some facetime with them, too...or in your case send someone in who can ask for you.

marksaccord95
01-28-2008, 12:39 PM
no, i dont try to be 'that guy' that calls all the time

diceman469
01-28-2008, 01:03 PM
That's probably why you don't know anything. There's nothing wrong with calling to find out what the deal is. It's not like you're calling incessantly being a pain in the ass....you just want an answer you can live with. I call there every other day to find out the status of my car. The only reason I do it so often is that there's a big "unknown" with my car at this point. Keep in mind that the typical shop has 20 or so projects going simultaneously. The one with the most pressure on it will get the most attention. The one that's the easiest to put aside will get the least.

You need to move your car up that ladder!

Not sure why people would need to put their .02 cent in when they have absolutely no idea on what's happening.

It's also an easy / cheap shot for those that are trying to stir shit up.

Before everyone's business is put out in the open here on the forums. If you guys are that concerned, try to IM or call Mark himself and find out what's going on. If that fails, I am sure Taylor Durdan and or Sean from Central Florida Automotive can also give some insight to this project.

Again, I don't think anyone needs to get involved and if Mark don't mind all the nitty griddy being brought up and spoken about, I am sure he will post it. This car has become a project among friends and has been pushed around to different people / shops for a while now. Sat at Durdan's, sat a Central Florida Automotive, and it's now sitting at my shop. See a trend?

how do you have any idea that we arn't working on it. just because we don't post up pictures or updates doesn't mean a thing. maybe we've been working on wiring for a month now. maybe we've been smoking cigarettes and drinking beer in the back seat. or maybe (actual reason) we've been negotiating the actual work to be done on the car and are waiting for an agreement before anything is done.

we typically don't start working on cars until both parties (shop and customer) are 100% on what work is to be done and how much money it will cost.

did you guys want us to update you every day on how the quoting process is going or maybe you want a detailed list of phone calls and meettings between people involved with the project?

frankly your 2 cents are worth anything on the matter, so please keep you negative comments to yourself.

 didn't mean it as a negative comment .... i was stating this is what people are seeing it as ... im sure there is a reason why yall have not worked on it ... hell when mark stated there was only a few hours of work needing to be done to the car but a story of things was said to be done. a few hours turned into about 50 hours after we went through each component that needed to be addressed.

this is not a small job by any means.

the thing is, i have called ian on his cell phone, at the shop, etc. i got him on the phone last week and he told me that he was on the other line and that he would call me back, so i called him back again 2 hrs later, nothing. called last week and was told that he was talking to mike and that he would call me back and he didnt. all i am trying to do is get that quote sorted so this car can get finished. i dont have time to keep up with this everyday bc i have work and am 3 hrs behind you guys, so when Ian tells me to call him at 6pm, its 3pm my time and i simply cant do that bc im at work. so when i call on lunch breaks or after work i still dont get a response. I dont have the time to sit on hold for 15-30 minutes just to be told that someone will call me back.

There isnt 50 hrs into the car, by the quote, theres 36 hrs, and some of that stuff is over estimated on time. When i was there 2 months ago, Mike and I both came to the conclusion that it would be 30-40 hrs, and thats where it is.

There is a trend with this car, Taylor didnt work on it, sat there for 3 months. Sean did about 2 days worth of work on it in 4 months, now its been sitting there for 3-4 months with nothing that I know of thats been done with it.

im not trying to be bitchy, im not trying to start shit. there was an agreed upon price and all ian needs to do is adjust that and remove the parts that are on there that I know I have already so this quote can be done and my car can be worked on.

I was originally told that by the end of jan would be no problem, here we are mid Feb and the car isnt anywhere close to being done, but do you see me posting up bullshit or calling and yelling? Nope, my needs are simple, but yet those are increasingly hard to achieve

I think I have been pretty damn calm and easy going on this. Im not asking for much here guys.....

you could do that. If you really feel like DC is not going to deliver what you want in the end then mabey you should. Of course that means starting all over at a new shop, building new relationships and figuring out if you can trust what is being done to your car and if its being done correctly. DC or any shop has delays. I understand that this project has been in the works for a long time, I know what its like to get fed up and get your hopes up and then just waiting. But I also know Ian and all the guys at driven concepts are as stand up as any I have seen. My car like yours has been an ardous project. In the 2.5 years that I have owned my car it has been drivable for less than 1.5 months.(its only been at DC a fraction of that time, I like you had other shops not do what they said would be done.)

I think you have a ton of patience but also believe fully that when the day comes, and it will come, and that the car is done, DC will not let it leave with out it being 100%. I love them, they have great techs and friendly people but more importantly they have integrity and have always treated me very well. Its the customer service and honesty that to me makes them stand out. Now I understand that each person may have had different experiences with them, but the same goes for any shops. You have your fan boys and your bashers for every shop out there.

I really hope you keep it at DC. I know that you will be satisfied when it is finished.

With that in mind, that is why i am not bitching. All I really ask is to be kept in the loop like once a week on what is going on. But any time I call or post, I never get a response, which is why I am getting frustrated. Also when I get promised dates that doesnt come thru, then of course it makes me frustrated.

Once again, read what I have wrote, Im not bitching, I would just like to be kept in the loop. I spent all this time building this car and now it has been left behind for 11 months now with a total of about 2-3 days worth of work into it. Plus I pay $190 a month for a storage unit here specifically for my shit and a car. Just put yourself in my shoes here.

Also dont forget, I did save you almost $2000 on the price of your dyno. Im trying to repay you helping me out atleast by helping you out.

Not stirring up any ish in any way, but what exactly does this car still need? And who got the car to this point? From the looks of it, it's been gone through pretty good already.

It's an absolutely stunning car BTW, and even in it's unfinished state, has graced my computer as my wallpaper for a few weeks now.

i did about 90% of what is currently done on the car myself, from pulling and painting all the suspension to the motor work. chris at DC did the paint, sean did most of the welding and other misc stuff

Current known work that has been done at DC since its been there since November is a mounted ebrake, finished welding floor pans, and finished seat rails.

Dont forget that they pushed it in, pushed it out..... pushed it in, pushed it out.....pushed it over here, pushed it over there.... it's probably been pushed everywhere. lol

LMAO to above comment. Seriously though, if you're good enough to complete that much of the work...how come you don't just pick the car up and finish it off? I don't know what your "official" deal is with DC...if you're trading priority for price....but if it's not working out just pick the car up. I gave DC my car as complete as my knowledge would allow me to get it. I gave them probably the most detailed notes on my project any customer has ever gave them. Even then it took them quite awhile to sort out my problems. Maybe it was due to my foulups.

***Although if my friends ever ask I'm going to tell them that if it's hard enough to stump me, it's hard enough to stump EVERYBODY lol***

They got it running. I'm still having problems, and they are standing behind their work, even though we don't know at this point what that may entail.

May I be so bold as to ask why you're not finishing this car on your own? Looks like you're pretty good at what you do...

He has a pretty hectic schedule with his baller job and he's in Cali so picking up the car isn't just a oneday thing. As far as your other questions ill let him answer...

^ exactly

im out of town, a lot. and i just dont have the time. from mid feb to mid march i was out of town for 18 days, im currently even out of town now. plus it costs more to transport a car that doesnt run. if this car had 4 full days worth of work in it, it could be done.

when i lived in FL i had a lot more free time. careers just kill that luxury.
